Two types of people on CC...

Is it just me or are there two types of people on CC? There are those who are brilliant and do very well on the SAT. They are here to perhaps find something out to give them a further advantage in college admissions. Then, there are those who don't do so well on the SAT and in school. However, for some reason, they are obsessed about the SAT and sometimes have unrealistic college goals.

Has anyone else noticed this?

I'm neither. I'm just a nerd.

Oh well, it's all part of the "skewed society" thing which is here on CC.

I'm a gangster. So yeah.

Then there's your motha

don't forget the parents

true, can't forget about the parents...though they could fall into the obsessive group...

omg... don't tell me there are cliques even on CC....

yes there are.

the naturally smart who are motivated

the naturally born stupid but work hard people who study literally hours just for one test in school that the naturally smart just review for in 30 minutes

the naturally smart but who dont really care

the not so smart but not so stupid (me)

naturally stupid and lazy

all of these groups fall under this category, ASIAN.

Those who die a hero and those who live long enough to see themselves become the villain?

There are always two kinds of people. We divide the world along the LU and NLU dimensions.

all of these groups fall under this category, ASIAN.
What? I'm not asian.....

But we all have a common fear of our place in the college admissions process. And that's what really matters.

a common fear? More like obsessive paranoia

I'm pretty sure my situation is closer to obsessive paranoia than fear.

hey hannah, what do you define "not so well on the SAT" as? Just curious.

I think there are more than 2 types of people on CC, considering that half are parents, and many more haven't even taken the SAT yet.

Hannah..... Do you think you're qualified for the top schools? Are you what they're looking for?

Who can say what colleges are exactly looking for? But I certainly am trying to be qualified for top schools of course. And you Maximus001? Are you "qualified for the top schools"?

Well, "not so well" is actually based on what grade you take the SAT and what schools you are applying to. What I mean is, I see people who don't score well on the SAT yet still have unrealistically high goals.

I probably don't fall into anything. I never took the SAT and didn't even graduate high school or anything. I'm going to a community college so I can transfer to an in-state school with a good music ed program. I never went through what seems like a fairly agonizing process of applying to schools - I just spent five or ten minutes filling out an app for the CC I'm going to, and the school I'm transferring to will take me automatically if I get a DTA. I'm just here because I'm fascinated by schools. :D

You forgot about the kids who've already applied, gotten in, and are now simply spending hours and hours on CC because they work in an office and have access to a computer.
