Ha oh well. I guess it’s not like I had a chance anyways. I’ll just start prepping for rejection.

countryangel- Oh no, the typos were on the common app essay so no word limit technically. And I’m afraid to even go back and look at my supplement to see if there were typos.

Your neuroticism is probably the bigger issue here. Hopefully that didn’t come across in your application.

^Lol wow, thanks. I actually took a professional personality evaluation thing and my neuroticism was extremely low, like 20% over all which means solid as a rock but I think it’s just that I’ve been working towards Cornell for years and it’s my absolutely first choice like life or death that I’m freaking out so bad.

I had a couple of stupid sentences in my essay. I had one insane sentence fragment. Like seriously, half of a sentence. And a few other typos and grammar mistakes and whatnot.

Guess where I am?
<–

It’s not the end of the world.

Zfanatic, I seriously love you. Thanks for making me feel soo much better.

I had a few minor typo’s too (I also did the me/my fail). I honestly don’t think the adcoms notice or care. Each year, cornell receives 34,000 apps. They spend an average of 15 minutes or so on each app (from arts and sciences admissions lady). That is 8,500 man-hours of apps crap alone.

SO,Did the admissions staff reply to your email?? lol

Seriously? Wow.

Which college are you in?

yeah i was really worried about typos as well…found 2 at the last minute, but I still think i probably have a few more in there I havent seen yet

No they haven’t. The only reason I sent them the email was because the sentence may not make sense… I said my “fatigued boy” when i really mean to say “my fatigued body”…its annoying because its one stupid letter…but if they dont respond theyll be able to figure out that i meant “body” in the context of the sentence.

the admissions office will not accept revisions for ED.

I made some typos in my common app. short answer…■■■…

Ok so the admissions office told me that I can fax them a revised version but a few grammatcial/spelling mistakes will not compromise my application. Should I send it? It’d give me peace of mind as I’ve been totally freaking out but then they’ll think I’m anal? Blahhh. What should I do?

How did you contact the admissions office? What college are you applying to?

if your essay is 1000 words, then I wouldn’t worry about a single error past word 500. Most of the adcoms I knew didn’t read beyond word 501 in the first place so they wont even notice.

^I have an error in the first paragraph “my” instead of “me.” And they don’t?! Later on is the depth of my essay! Blah

hs, what is done is done. you really cant change anything. there is no benefit to you to freak out now. the only thing you can do now is wait, and to make sure that you dont make anymore mistakes on any of your other applications. did you do your ED application at the last minute? maybe that’s why you made mistakes if you were rushing to get it in exactly on the deadline

and a 1000 word essay? thats long for a common app. like wayyyy too long

^I just found another mistake! Showed instead of shown. And I actually wrote my common app essay in July. What had happened was that my computer had crashed on the 30th, losing all my data so I had to retype my essay on Halloween. I didn’t have anyone who could read it since it was Halloween night and of course you miss your own typos/mistakes when reading your own work since you mentally correct them subconsciously since you know what’s coming next.

"Most of the adcoms I knew didn’t read beyond word 501 in the first place so they wont even notice. "

Gomestar- i hope you are exaggerating a little. I know 1000 words are a little excessive. But how would the adcoms know the difference between the 500 words mark and the 550 words mark?

honorstudent- just send it if it makes you feel better. Stop stressing over it.
