So basically I applied to these four universities mentioned in the title above. Just for clarification and clarity purposes, here are the full names of the universities:
University of Cincinnati
California State University Long Beach
Cal Poly Pomona
California State University Fullerton
I’m planning to study computer science. Hypothetically speaking if I were to be accepted to all of these universities, I wouldn’t know what to do.
Here’s why I chose each of these universities:
California Schools: I like the location, also all of these universities are around the area where I grew up, family is there etc. Also all of these schools have fairly reputable programs alongside some good opportunities.
University of Cincinnati: Very reputable co-op program. Good engineering dept. Good location in terms of venues and restaurants around.
So, which one should I choose and why? Any and all help is appreciated.
Thank you
What is your net price at each school (from their net price calculators)? Can you and your parents afford each school?
I’m lucky enough to have been born in a rich family, so yes I can afford it. I’m mostly focusing on academics, opportunities, location, etc. of each of the universities and how they match up in terms of your opinion.
Have you visited all schools? Personally, I think you should wait until you have acceptances in hand before making a decision. If you have not visited, I highly suggest you make an effort. Perhaps one school will stand out.
I am currently living outside of the US, therefore I don’t have the option to visit the campuses. That’s the reason why i’m asking people here who have been to the campuses to share their insights and experiences with me.
What are your stats?? Seems like an odd group of schools for someone looking at CS - may want to expand your options.
I’ve heard Pomona is more of a commuter-ish school, and I think Fullerton is that way as well. A lot of people commute to Long Beach too, but maybe there’s a decent campus as well, I don’t know. I think you really want to think about what you want from your college years in addition to an education. Do you just want to go to class and work? Or do you want to live on a campus, and go to school activities? I’m just not sure any of those California schools are especially attractive in terms of movie-type college experiences. And for point of reference, I live within an hour of all of them. Go on Niche and read reviews of the schools from students.
Any co-op school seems like a good idea.
