I was accepted to CSE at U of MN twin cities and am now looking into the dorms. The only LLC’s I’m interested in are WISE and Taylor House but I don’t know if I want to be placed in the Frontier Hall. It doesn’t have a place to eat so you have to go somewhere else in the cold and the rooms have really small closet space.
Any other dorm halls I should be considering? Or would Frontier be my best option since it has both the LLC’s I’m interested in? Thank you.
not sure but I do recommend you put your name in the queue if you haven’t already. I believe you can pick anything for now and change later without penalty. the decisions are made later first come first served based on where you are in queue so don’t wait.
If you can’t get to a dining hall “in the cold”, how exactly are you planning to get to your classes?
Last time I checked, Frontier was located next to at least two other dining halls (in Centennial and Pioneer). And who’s to say that you will be coming back to your dorm for all meals anyway? Your meal plan will work at all the dining facilities.
Use some of that CSE brain-power to figure out your closet situation.
I don’t think Frontier is a bad choice. I have a few friends living there (in Taylor House) and they’ve loved it so far. I believe Frontier is connected to Centen by a tunnel so you may not have to even venture out into the cold for food.
Also, want to correct my previous post #2. Pioneer will close for the next two years for major renovations. Guessing that will include the dining facility. BTW, they are converting some of the other dorms to freshman-only. I think Comstock will be one of them. We learned this just on Friday while doing a campus and res. hall tour.
@CWNWSS - yes, up till May 2017. Basically you can change any of your housing preferences up till that month - can’t remember the exact date but it should be on the website.
