Is it bad to not have any letters of recommendations? I took my last semester off and before that I was on a study abroad for a year. So I do not have many options. Should I get one of my study abroad teacher to write one even if it will be very general. I do not have personal relationships with teachers. Or should I just not send one at all?

I read this as it’s highly recommended to send at least 1 LOR from an instructor. Send whichever academic LOR you think will be the strongest; and if you can, back it up with another one from a non-instructor that will help support your case.
