i'm a freaking ELC student with a 1370 SAT score...I can't believe UCI can't decide on a decision for me yet!

lets try to break 200 posts

slimlic if you're ELC aren't you guaranteed at UCI??????

Percentage of ELC admits last year:

Berkeley: 63%
Los Angeles: 53%
San Diego: 87%
Davis: 96%
Irvine: 99%
Santa Barbara: 92%
Santa Cruz: 99%
Riverside: 99%

What does ELC mean?

Elegibility in Local Index

If you're ELCS, for "a-g" subjects taken in 10th grade, you managed to rank in the top 4% of your class.

polarman: holy **** dude that kind of sucks for UCLA and berkeley...haha

Anyone already in at UC Davis?

does anyone know the order of the uc's from most competitive to least competitive, or best to worst?

UCLA and Berkeley are the most competitive, though UCLA has a slightly larger applicant pool...... their acceptance rates are about the same (~24%), then followed by UCSD.

Davis, Irvine and SB would tie as being the "middle-UCs," and SC and Riverside have the highest acceptance rates (79% and 84% respectively, but do keep in mind that tons of UCLA and Berkeley applicants apply there as safeties)

In at SC and R! (So far...)

tenniscraze: nope i don't think davis has started posting them online yet, i just checked

slimlic I'm ELC too and I have not heard anything :(

I'm in at SC! what trinkets exactly come with a Berkeley acceptance? Can someone explain please?

Texas Resident
Applied only to UC Berkeley out of all the UCs, and I probably won't go even if accepted. it's too expensive for a public university.

Stats:
1480 SAT ( 780 / 700)
800 / 760 / 750
GPA: 4.0 uw

Competitiveness of UC's, most competetive to least
San Francisco and Hastings (grad schools are obviously most competitive)
berkeley
LA
san diego
Davis
Santa Barbara
Irvine
Santa Cruz
Riverside
Merced

Berkeley expensive as a public school??
You have to be kidding. Out of all the UC's, Berkeley is the more inexpensive! It's 1000 dollars cheaper than UCLA, and cheaper than the other UC's (dont remember which ones). The tuition for the whole year came out to less than 9000 bucks.

Bubbles,

Sorry, I should have said the UCs are expensive for out of state students. I know Berkeley is awesome, but UT Austin (my state's flagship school) has offered me almost full ride. So, in comparison, Berkeley's over 25k tuition is expensive. They won't give me any financial aid either (out of state policy) so even a private school like Stanford will probably turn out cheaper.

Actually the $17-$20,000 including room and board that the UCs cost make them expensive States for in State kids, too. Most State schools cost considerably less. Also, UCs make most financial aid recipients take lots of loans. Many private schools actually end up cheaper for those who qualify for a lot of aid.

zagat:

suggest you check out UMich for in-state costs.....
