Hey guys, just posting this again in case no one saw. I made a Facebook group that might make it easier for us to get to get to know one another. It says that there is a Transfer Day coming up in May, but I can’t seem to find the specific day. Is anyone interested in meeting up? There’s an awesome pizza joint in downtown, or we can explore the campus together

The Facebook group name for those interested:

@doihaveashot2016 did you get in too??

@IvyLeague2 sorry for the late reply but it’s basically a prompt where i explain anything that i haven’t yet told them that could help me get in if they were to relook at my application

There is a transfer weekend May 5-7th overnight stay, at least that’s the message I have on my CalCentral. all expenses paid apparently

Oh yea guys, I know that Cal day was last week, but do they have another special event/tours for admitted transfers? Or is it only the orientation?

@caliguy925 you should be able to create it from your calnetid/calcentral without committing yet. i made one before i was even accepted

Admitted to UC Berkeley.

Major: Computer Science (L&S)
GPA: 4.0
CC: Berkeley City College
IGETC: To be completed this semester
Prerequisites: math series, CS 61A/61B (taken at Cal)
ECs: lab assisting and mentoring for CS at Cal, teaching assistant for CIS at BCC, a few smaller ones
Personal Statements: 8 or 9/10 imo, got help from TAP
Accepted: UCSC, UCSD, UCB (woot woot)
Rejected: SJSU, UCLA

I think my rejections were because I hadn’t done any physics or chemistry. SJSU was actually supposed to be my backup school in case Cal rejected me, interestingly enough. Luckily I had applied to three other UCs for fun.

@mangobby i was scared about 10 because they said it was like a weeder but it was ok. You could take in summer but getting through the major isn’t that bad. I’ve taken a lot of Haas courses. I never heard that rule. What you might be thinking about are the major required electives. You need 4 electives from a huge list and can only apply two from any one discipline. But you can take more than the two as long as you have another two from different disciplines to round out the four. You just can’t apply them to the major.

@xaul95 you should write that - about how you want to go to UCB over any other and it’s what even got you through school. Get help on your writing make sure counselors look over it and good luck.
@Ohm888 thank you that really made me feel a lot better.
They both offered a full ride
I would really love to go to UCSC I went to the campus and it felt right. However the living expenses are out of control - I have a few options and there are cheaper places on the UCSC housing site but you have to send your intent in order to view any info on them.
I am going to speak with the UCSC rep on May 2nd and try to figure more out about the financial aid and about the scholarships I applied for.
Also Davis was really hard to get into you have to get an A- GPA ave in calc1-3 and in a group of computer science courses. The UCD rep told me they only care about academics there rather then personal statements. I feel that would be a good environment for me because only serious students will be accepted and you have to basically have straight A’s to even get into the CS program there.
The rep said it’s because it is the most impacted major there! They are making new cs related majors and making the requirements harder even academic enrollment period because it is so impacted.
I was super happy when I got in because I worked really hard for the A’s and took calc3 because I didn’t think I would be able to afford to live in UCSC.
This is the biggest decision I have ever had to make in my life and I don’t want to have any regrets. Sorry for the long comment it’s just a major decision - the first time in my life I have felt this way.

Accepted

Major: Psychology
GPA: 3.84
Major GPA: 4.0
Accepted: UCD, UCI, UCR, UCB, SDSU, CSULB, CSUSB
Denied: UCSD but appealing decision

@plsacceptmeUCs Ahhh I DID!! I was too excited before to post my stats, so here they are.

Accepted!!!
Major: Sociology
GPA: 3.68
CC: SBCC
IGETC: Completed. Didn’t take any honors classes.
Pre-reqs: Done by Spring 2017
ECs: During my time at cc I was the President of the Transfer Club, a Student Ambassador/Volunteer coordinator, the social media coordinator for the TAP club, a co-founder of the Italian Club, I worked 10-15 hours a week in a computer lab/as an ESL tutor, made president’s honor roll every year, I was a Phi Theta Kappa member… I can’t remember if I put anything else tbh.
Essays: I’d say about an 8/10. I also had an upward trend in grades of all A’s since Spring 2016, and I think that really helped!
Accepted: UCSB, UC Davis, UC San Diego, Cal
Rejected: UCLA - I never wanted to go there anyway

I never thought I would get into my dream school, but I did! I already submitted my SIR. Berkeley, here I come! GO BEARS.

@Ruskointhehouse thank you i will take your advice!

Anyone else accepted for Spring 2018?

Anyone else accepted for Spring 2018?

@Ruskointhehouse based on what you’re saying Davis might be the one. It’s a great college town, very fun, safe, and less expensive. It’s kind of a cross between Cal and UCLA but in a more rural setting. Plus, there’s a train that goes straight to Berkeley (one hour) or a two hour bus.
