@Ohm888 Oh ok that makes sense, that’s probably the rule I was thinking of. If I take media studies 10 during the fall, would I be able to also enroll in other classes for the media studies major, or am I not allowed to complete these classes until I have all prereqs done and have officially declared?

I’m not sure yet… Most likely it will be Berkeley. Are you pre-med by any chance? @caffeinated24

@ef8825 I was not able to see my financial aid info either, but I got this sent to my personal email around 6:00pm.

Pre-economics
3.76
Accepted: CSUF, CPP, UCI, UCLA, UCB
Denied: CSULB

Applied as a Fall 2017 transfer and accepted as a Spring 2018 transfer, but I have a scholarship contract that requires me to graduate by Spring 2019 or else I’ll have to pay back the scholarship money. If I can’t get the admission bumped up to Fall 2017, I’ll be attending UCLA business economics instead. I hear getting admissions to change from Spring transfer to Fall transfer is really difficult, so I’m not getting my hopes up. Anyone have experience with this?

@doihaveashot2016 Yaayyyy congrats!!! I’m happy to see a lot of the people I’ve corresponded with during these past 2 months also get into Cal  I submitted my SIR like just an hour after I heard back lol

I can’t make the Chancellor’s Welcome event next week, so I’m going to a welcome reception called “Yield: Los Angeles” on May 16, which I found from my CalCentral. If anyone else ends up going, let me know!

Admitted!

Oh my god, what a freaking ride this whole process was! Thank you everyone for being so helpful and supportive through the wild rollercoaster of anxiety, nerves, and excitement! Congrats to everyone, ya’ll deserve to celebrate!

Also, is anyone else having a hard time getting access to the provisional financial aid letter? I had the notice, clicked on it…but there are no details and it takes me back to the main cal central dashboard…

oh oops, this was answered!

@mangobby this is horrible, i can’t remember if the other MS courses need MS 10. I think they might. But there are so many other disciplines that fulfill things for the major. First semester I just took 3 courses for 11 units and then took two decals P/NP for another 2 units. 13 total. They suggest you start slow and I’m really glad i did. My other two courses that first semester besides MS 10, were Psych 160 (social psychology - no written papers BTW!) and Asian American Studies 138 (K-pop). Both fulfilled MS electives. You could also take one of the methods courses to fulfill that req.

Since MS is so interdisciplinary in nature, i believe any course in another field that is a MS elective has reserved space for MS majors. I’m not sure, but i never had trouble getting in, even if it was Psych, etc. so I’m not sure how they handle that.

I really like the interdisciplinary aspect - you can fulfill major reqs by taking courses in soc, history, anthro, poli sci, business, econ, information, philosophy, film, English; it goes on and on.

I’m kinda glad I got denied, made the decision to SIR UCLA much easier. Only thing that hurts is my ego. Good luck to all of you guys!

Does anyone know what the deal with regents at Berkeley is? I got accepted to EECS with a 4.00 GPA.

@Ohm888 hey I have a random question hope you might be able to answer me  I got accepted as media studies major too, but I’m also really interested in double major psychology, do you think it’s possible? (Cuz I heard that media studies don’t have many courses)

Admitted!

Major: Media Studies
GPA: 3.94
Prerequisites: Finished by Spring 2017

I actually got rejected from UCLA on Wednesday and was super super bummed but this good news brought tears to my eyes today. Congrats to all my fellow Berkeley Bears!!!

@singhisking339 yes, it’s almost certainly because you’re a one year transfer. very hard to get into competitive UC’s as a one year

@zxcvbnm01 Yes, you can double or minor. MS is pretty flexible, for sure. But can you get into psych after you’re admitted? I thought it was impacted. I could be totally wrong.
