@CalPlease same… One of my friends that got accepted to Berkeley is already able to view his financial aid and I still can’t. I’m going to call UC Berkeley regarding this on Monday.
@Ahmeda13 thank you!
@caliguy925 log in to Cal Central with your MAP info, then go to where it says to make a bConnected account.
Hey Gang! Congrats to all. You should feel honored to be admitted; this is one of the finest public institutions of higher ed. anywhere. Try to be chill about financial aid - it all works out. Housing too - transfer students generally get university housing for one year. If you prioritize the school operated apartments, you’ll have a better chance not finding yourself in a dorm room with 2 freshmen.
There is a CalDay program for transfers in early June - it costs a few bucks but is worth the trip since you’ll be able to register and generally select a couple of your Fall classes - you’ll register for the remainder before school begins in August. [Make your hotel reservations now; the cheaper places on University fill up and jack their prices as the event draws closer.]
The school recognizes you are finishing your work at CCC but unless you blow it and fail a course, just finish them as best you can. You’re in now; you’ve already proved yourself to the school.
Greek system is smaller than say USC, UCLA, Michigan, etc. but you can find the same run down frat-houses around campus as anywhere. Ditto sororities.
This school is in NorCal but climate changes have made the landscape a little less Seattle-like. Bart ride to downtown SF is about 40 minutes, give or take. Do this - it’s San Francisco after all. Uber ride from Berkeley Bart to dorms/apartments is about $5. Cheap if it’s late or raining.
Finally, go to Cal Bear football games. The stadium is on campus. The last couple of years have been pretty dismal re student attendance. The team is re-building but it’s a fun part about being in college and it’s an event. And Cal will beat Stanford at least once while you are there, guaranteed now that Christian McCaffrey left the Farm. See you there?
Hey guys I was wondering if any one else is trying to do the Transfer Edge summer program? If so do you know how the process works? I signed up but don’t know whats next.
@tss7562 Hey that’s awesome, congrats! If you don’t mind, can you tell us what your essays were about?
@elcamino yes but aren’t UCLA and UCB requirements quite different? So you took the entirety of both?
@CalPlease hahaha lets talk politics!
So I completed my SIR… but I don’t see a place where it asked for $250. Does anyone know if that means my fees was waived or is there somewhere on calcentral where I have to do the payment?
How do I know which major I have been accepted to?
@snowy606 From what I’ve researched…(meaning going through numerous reddit and college confidential posts), Cal accepts you into a department then you declare a major you want within that department when you get there.
For example, I got into the College of Letters and Science, and I want to declare myself as a math major, then I do so when I go to Cal. Assuming I have all the required courses satisfied I will be considered a math major.
So if you’ve done most of the pre-reqs articulated on the assist org then you probably have most of the courses fulfilled to declare your major when you go to Cal.
Correct me if I’m wrong anyone!! (っ˘ڡ˘ς)
Yeah! So I wrote about basically my sob story of growing up in a broken household, and how at an early age I took an interest to chemistry. I wrote about how chemistry was extremely hard for me and the classes I got my worst grades in but I never gave up, I then stated how failure has never scared me because that’s how I grow. But what I believe really influenced my acceptance was how I stated that I’m a role model to younger African Americans and that I depict how we are capable of more than ending up prison or jail and how we don’t have to play a sport to go to college. I’m currently deciding between SDSU where I’ll be the first African American to receive a degree in chemical physics and third woman ever, or Berkeley. I’ll probably pick SDSU where I’ll be a part of history, but Berkeley is well Berkeley.
Hello! Do I have to pay the $250 deposit first to access the CalNetID? When I try to access it it says “Forbidden”.
I was accepted to Uc Berkeley two days ago on the 28th!
here are my stats.
CCC In-State Transfer
Major: Political Science
GPA: 3.81, I got a C in Stats, my only class that I did not get an A.
Major GPA: 4.0
TAG: UCI
IGETC: Finishing up this spring
Major Prereqs: All completed
ECs: Student Ambassador
Member of the Honors Club
Member of the Multicultural Club
I did a political Internship for the campaign of CA State Senator Tony Mendoza

Volunteering at a convalescent home (That doesn’t really apply to my major)
I also put one EC from High School: Model United Nations (I put it since it integrates with the International Relations branch of Political Science)
Essays: They’re stellar! I put so much time and effort in them. I made so many drafts and got them reviewed by several counselors, professors, and family members. I also got my essays read by a UCI admissions officer. 9.5 or 9/10
@CalPlease @lovelyyliz I don’t have a cal central account and I have no idea how to get a cal email address! However on Cal central (I think at the bottom left) there’s an option to sign in with your MAP account and you can see everything from there
@caliguy925 not all programs require a deposit!
I’ve just SIR’d! On CalCentral under my academics, does anyone still see “summer domestic visitor UG”? I’m worried that making a CalCentral account through summer registration screwed things up…
@Aerolyze mine still says that too even after I have SIR’d
@champagnemami Interesting. I think you also signed up with summer sessions? We should probably contact someone about this. Since most people can already see their financial packages besides the people who made their account early.
yah I still have the summer status under mine to, I already submitted my SIR… I can not see my financial aid package. I also keep seeing Summer session notifications.
