UC Berkeley 2017 Transfer Thread

I just received the welcome package today, it looks the most legit so far lol, still waiting for ucla.

@georgcantorrules Dude were the same! Im coming from UCSC to! What do you mean if you can finish your last two GEs?

@lilydandelion I would assume it means that it is being offered to you on the condition that you meet a set number of specific requirements.

I still cannot access the financial aid info on the cal central site. Is anyone still having this issue?

I got an invite to the Vice Chancellor’s reception, but found out it’s already full. :frowning: Does anyone know what it is, and how important it would have been to go??

The welcome package is so simple yet so elegant (ღ˘⌣˘ღ).

@blueninja32 Just a person talking. Nothing too important.

Who’s going to the Chancellor’s welcome reception tomorrow?

How did people get an invitation to Transfer Weekend?

By when do required courses need to be completed by? Can they be completed after the application is sent?

Has anyone tried applying for housing? For some reason the only term I can see is summer. Is anyone else having this issue?

@weiserm

  1. read your provisional condition of admittance
  2. end of spring semester

when do we start registering for fall classes?

@kors03 July

For anyone attending the Vice Chancellor Reception/Chancellor Welcoming, let me know what happens! I was going to attend but found out I couldn’t make it today :confused:

@LandUseLaw Let me know what you find out about summer financial aid too!

@briank82 I am an incoming first year trying to plan my transfer. Does UCB consider courses taken the summer before one would transfer in?

@weiserm usually they don’t. They’d prefer it if you finish all your courses required before enrolling at Berkeley. But I think some guy in this thread was admitted even though he said he was going to finish his courses during the summer at Berkeley.

@mcdeluxe96 Thanks.

@weiserm Again, read your conditional admittance.

No, they don’t usually consider the summer before you transfer. If you have questions, email your advisor listed in your admittance. Don’t take anything in the summer without talking to them first.

Hey guys, I’m afraid my admission might be rescinded and I can’t concentrate on anything else.

So I recently got admitted by UCB College of Natural Resources. On the Conditions of Admission, it says:

“I understand that I must complete all UC transferable courses that were self-reported in my application with a minimum term and overall 3.0 GPA, and no grade lower than a B- for any individual course.”

Does “no grade lower than a B- for any individual course” refer to my past classes or the In-Progress one? They listed 4 planned and In-Progress at the beginning of the Contract. I should be fine with those 4 but if they are talking about past classes then I’m afraid I have several grades that are lower than a B-. My college is on a quarter system so the last term I was able to update using the application website was the Fall. At the end of the Winter quarter, I was asked to submit my grades via email (they don’t ask everyone to submit Winter grades). The email was the UC system email, it didn’t say which UC asked for it but it did say the grades might be reviewed by any UCs I have applied. There were 3 class, including Calculus (pre-major requirement), for which I received a C. This was by the end of March 2017.

Fast forward to April 28th, I got admitted to Berkeley with above condition. Should I assume they already know about my C in Calculus since my grades were requested by the UC system, admitted me, and the conditions were for the In-Progress. Or they decided to admit me before I submitted my grades, didn’t take a look at the updates and thus are oblivious of my C?

The listed In-Progress is for the Spring, which is right now, ends by the end of June.

Any grade they don’t already know - planned or IP.
