Applying to HAAS
Failed 9th and dropped out of high school after 1 year.
Then later I tested for a high school equivalent diploma.
GPA 8 years ago at CC. 1.8 and on Academic Probation
Did 5 years in the Military, Special Operations
Cumulative GPA now 3.85 after scrubbing off bad grades from the past.
All A’s [70 credits] except for a C in Pre Calc and that’s because I never learned Algebra or Geometry so I was learning it concurrently while in Pre Calc.
Most recent semester 24 units, 4.0.
EC’s: Senator in Student Gov.
Chances?
UGH
Took 8 Classes this semester, for a total of 22 units
Got 7 A’s and one C
Seriously FML
C is in a lower division major elective, class is equal to 1/3 of the requirement equivalent
hopefully wont prevent my admission in April
@RICOLAA I’m former military as well. Also an officer in the Cal Veterans Group, a Veteran Outreach Peer Advisor for the Cal Veteran Services Center, and just finished my first semester at Haas yesterday as a junior transfer.
Shoot me a message and I can provide one-on-one guidance. It’s a little late in the process but I can help with the TAU next month.
But generally for Haas it’s nearly impossible to chance people. It’s just so competitive and with so few spots. You can really leverage yourself to stand out though, which is a huge advantage to your application. Hit me up and we can talk more.
Hey Guys! I haven’t applied to Berkeley yet because I’m not sure if I would even get in. Can someone chance me?
CCC Transfer
Major: History of Art
GPA: 3.8, could possibly be 3.7 after this semester
TAG: UCSB
IGETC: Done
Major Prereqs: All but one class not offered at my CC
ECs: Not many, mostly just from high school.
Essays: Good, I had a professor look over them before I submitted my app.
Other UC’s applied: UCLA, UCSB, UCD, UCI, UCSC
I know art history isn’t impacted, and I’m probably being annoying with asking if I have a chance, but I would still appreciate any advice.
UC Davis Transfer
Major: Ethnic studies
GPA: 3.1 with all transfer grades 60 units from community college
TAG: NONE
IGETC DONE
Major Prereqs: Not Sure what classes are required to transfer for this major seeing that assist has no correlation with UC Davis i might be wrong but if anyone knows please please let me know
EC: Nigerian student union uc davis, Black student union Uc Davis, Davis christian Fellowship Uc davis, Work at sgundo dining commons as a student worker currently at Uc davis, Worked at forever 21, old navy, mc Donald’s over the summer before transferring.
Essay: did my responses by myself and didnt have them check by parents do to me not wanted my parents finiding out im applying again.
UC applied: UCLA AFRrican American studies alternate Ancient Near East and Egyptology.
Fyi i withdrew from davis to safe my chances of applying to ucla as well as safe my chances of being on academic probation for uc davis as a first year transfer. im not liking Davis academic suupport wish i choose irvine instead. i feel davis teacher don’t care about student success as much as the school says they do if you struggle.I fely that at community college berkeley city college teaches did anything possible to see the student pass uc davis has not done that for me which show the type of school they are, any ways I like Uc Berkeley since it 20 minutes from my house taking Bay Area Rap Transit from hayward and it on semester system which i came from which gives me time to understand the material better
Also hoping to transfer back to sociology once accepted
@SullivanStreet88 I would say you have a good chance of getting in. There’s a 40% admit rate for your major, and you have a competitive GPA.
someone chance me please
Anyone know when we have to send in our high school transcript to prove we completed the foreign language requirement?
Yes you do- in April or May.
Hey guys,
I saw that UCB accepts 93% transfers from California Community colleges. How hard is it to get in if I am at a considerably good ranked 4 year university outside California?
Stats:
Applying for: Applied Math
Current Major: Math and Econ
GPA: 3.8
University: NYU
Freshman GPA: 3.9 at Georgia Tech
Strong EC’s with leadership positions on campus at both universities
Fairly strong essays
Research and internship experience in data analytics
International Student
Why is everyone ignoring Osazuwa?
@“osazuwa ogbeide”
You’ve only taken community college classes right? You say you “withdrew from davis to safe my chances of applying to ucla”. Do you mean withdraw your application or do you mean you used to attend Davis?
@SullivanStreet88 Admission officers completely disregard your high school ECs unless they are still being carried on today. If that isn’t the case, then perhaps it might be a /little/ bit harder for you to get in. However, the rest of your profile looks good so I trust that you’ll get in.
@transfer05 with a near 4.0 at GTech I’d say you have a really strong chance. Plus applied math isn’t as competitive as some of the engineering majors at Cal
Hey Guys! Fellow Fall 2017 Transfer here! I’m so excited and scared about my stats so here they are.
CCC Transfer

ECs: VP of Honors Club, PR of PTK Club, volunteering a bit
Essays: I thought they were good. I worked hard on them. 9/10
Other UC’s applied: UCSB, UCSD, UCLA
Do you guys think I have a good chance?
@AgentXJP for real everyone ignoring me here maybe my stats are not up to par so they don’t bother comment. so far i have community college credit 60 units in total with igetc done and 90 units together with transfer and non transfer courses. I attended uc davis fall quarter 2016 and i withdrew to save my ucla chances and my gpa for uc davis. Im going to still attend this winter quarter 2017
@osazuwa ogbeide I’m not sure why the stats for your major are masked on the UC transfer by major guide. Without that, I really have little basis to go off of, so take what I say with a grain of salt! Based on the admit GPAs for the other majors within that broad discipline, it seems like your GPA may be too low. Your extra curricular activities look good, though.
If anyone can step in to help, please do!
@annbern i wanted to give everyone the bigger picture of my chances by attaching all my stats. I make one that better one for everyone to see.
UC Davis Transfer
Major:Ethnic studies/ women studies
GPA: 3.15
Major GPA: 4.0
TAG: NONE
IGETC: Done
Major Prerequisite: I have only taken one ethnic study course while i was at community college. Not sure what ethnic studies classes to full fill at Uc Davis that will transfer over. If anyone know please let me know
EC: Nigerian student association Uc Davis, Black student Association Uc Davis, Christian Fellow Ship, current worker at Uc Davis dining hall.
ESSAY: Good
@“osazuwa ogbeide” People probably didn’t respond because your post lacked clarity and was really hard to follow. People aren’t ignoring you, they just don’t know how to help you or what you’re asking.
@cc2LAuniversity IGETC isn’t necessary for Haas.
Your grades are around where they should be but your ECs are pretty weak. The quality of your essays will play a big part in your application.
Beyond that, it’s hard to give anyone any sort of chance at Haas.
@“osazuwa ogbeide” So you’ll be doing a UC to UC transfer then. In that case you have much lower priority than CC transfers, but it’s still possible. Unlikely but possible.
If you want to know what classes transfer over you can use assist.org
