UC Berkeley 2017 Transfer Thread

is it safe to say that if we haven’t heard anything about our transfer wait list decision yet that we didn’t get in?

Just got in off my appeal yesterday! It’s crazy, I just appealed cause why the hell not. I never thought I had a shot.

in regards to my earlier post - no it’s not safe to say that. i got in off the waitlist on the 27th :slight_smile:

Hi all, I just got off the waitlist on the 27th for a Spring admit as well, and need to decide on what to do within the next 23 and a half hours. I had previously committed to UCSD for psych, and may major in CBN (Cognitive Behavioral Neuroscience) or Cogsci. At Berkeley, I would probably major in Cogsci. What are your guys’ thoughts on what I should do? I am so lost and worried I will make the incorrect choice. Thank you

Got off the waitlist on Jun 27th. Psychology major with a 4.0. Glad all the hard work was finally recognized by Cal.

@neurosomething it’s a tough call. Financially can you afford to defer? Also does the Cal name matter to you? If and is yes to both, wait. If not you can’t go wrong with the top ranked cog sci program st SD.

For future waitlist students, make sure you spend enough time on your WL essay. However don’t wait too long to opt in as they may be looking at them on a rolling basis.

@Orangered123 Congratulations!

Is anyone else’s IGETC marked as “received” but still listed under the scheduled tab?

Has anyone hand-delivered their transcripts? I hand-delivered one of mine almost a week ago and it’s still marked as overdue. I already emailed my admissions officer but haven’t gotten a response yet. Does anyone know if there is a bit of turnover time before I see the task marked as completed?

Yes, I hand-delivered. It takes a while to get posted…

@Ohm888 thanks!

Have any of you guys received any offers for housing yet?

Are there any psych majors on here trying to get classes?

Hey so to anyone who registered for classes today, are you still considered undeclared? and if so were you put on a waitlist due to being undeclared even though that class had open seats? trying to figure out whats going on!

@californiannnnnnnnnnnn what are you majoring in? For me at least (psych) I need to take a specific upper division psych course and finish any other prereqs before I can officially declare my major by the end of the first semester. Until then I’m consider undeclared.

@californiannnnnnnnnnnn So personally, I applied to UC Berkeley as a mathematics major, but when I tried to enroll in classes today they prevented me from enrolling in Math 55 (although H110 etc were fine). I emailed my adviser and he said my name wasn’t on the roster for students in the major, so I replied with my major and SID just a few minutes ago. In CalCentral, I’m still shown as undeclared.

@mightyMETA and @blasbcptransfer thank you guys for the responses, it definitely helps!

I also have another question regarding financial aid for anyone who knows and is willing to help. When on my CalCentral account I am eligible for a few different grants and scholarships, two of them are calling Cal B Grants. When listed on my account those are the only two that have a “Will Not Disburse” status next to them where all of the others have a “Not (yet) Disbursed”. Does anyone know why these have will not? I have tried reaching out to others, counselors and the financial aid department but am never able to get ahold of anyone directly and am not given an option to leave a message. If anyone can tell me why the status is like this and/or can provide a direct number for someone in the financial aid department please let me know. Thank you!

Hey! I am currently a freshman at Pitt and was considering transferring for the fall term to UC Berkeley. Does anyone have tips as I know it might harder for me since I won’t be on the priority list. (I’m not from Cali/ not attending a CCC.)

@doihaveashot2016 Hello, I wonder did you get accepted to UC Berkeley Media Studies? I have the same GPA like yours when you applied for transfer. I’m nervous…
