UC Berkeley 2017 Transfer Thread

@lexluther96 yes I got my acceptance that day too!! how crazy that it’s so early right, I thought it was a mistake but nope.

@futurelawyer88 congrats!!!

How much should a person read into the stats found on the infocenter page? If I’m above the 50th percentile should I be reasonably confident that I’ll be accepted? Assuming of course the completion of prerequisites, IGETC and the like.

(Not considering my screw up by mentioning Computer Science in my main when not applying as Computer Science to Cal, causing more scrutiny to come to my app)

Since we have six more weeks until transfer decisions, I wanted to ask if any of you are having dreams in which you check the Cal Admissions portal and realize you’ve been accepted? I’m sure it’s not just me. April 28 can’t come soon enough. Hope you’re all hanging in there, too. @-)

That happened to me a few nights back, but for UCSB because some lucky transfers will be notified on Tuesday! I’m sure it’ll happen for Cal too as the time nears. @plsacceptmeUCs

Why tf is cal the last decision to come out with CA public universities?!

I was wondering, does UC Berkeley compare applicants coming from the same college in competition with each other, or is it possible that they may accept several applicants for the same major from the same college?

Hi guys, so I recently got accepted into Michigan, do you know how hard it is to get into Berkeley or UCLA by comparison (which I’ve also applied to)? I don’t live in either California or Michigan.

@plsacceptmeUCs No. Your college means very little.

@sPib9Kiv9anD0aWd Way too many variables and way too broad of a question. Transferring to Cal from out of state, however, works against you.

Chance me please

@IvyLeague2 High school grades, ECs, honors, and test scores aren’t relevant to your application or chances of acceptance as a transfer student. 3.9 is a great community college GPA, but when you remove your irrelevant high school information, it really narrows down what you think is working in your favor as an applicant.

so out of 100% what chance do I have? be honest @briank82

You have a good GPA, @IvyLeague2, so you’ve got that going for you. A lot of it will come down to your essays.

I have no idea about your chances. At this point, just stop worrying about it. Nothing you can do now one way or the other, so just try and stop stressing about it.

@ivyleague2 The UCs prefer CA community college (CCC) students – 93% of accepted transfers are from a CCC. I have friends who transferred from out of state (OOS), but it’s significantly more difficult. If you didn’t apply for financial aid/are ineligible, then you might have a better chance. It’s not impossible and your college GPA and ECs are great. You have a good chance.
