@suenos53 Maybe email them and apologize?? Don’t lose hope!
@lexluther96 Thanks for your encouragement. I tried and my counselor also tried but I don’t think it worked.
Why is this page so dead lol, like every other uc thread is more active, especially since cal is supposed to be the most desirable UC.
@UCLAorUCBTRNSFR My biggest question. Everytime I try to start conversation on here it seems that one other person responds and there’s just cricket chirps afterward. I’ve had much better luck talking with people on the UCSD and UCLA threads.
I mean I can understand that people are less interested in thinking about their hail mary application since Cal is difficult to get into. Focusing and getting hyped for a school that’s most likely going to reject you isn’t as much fun as getting hyped for as school that has a strong chance to accept you. At the same time that never stopped people from years past from getting really hyped. I guess for one reason or another not as many people are enthused about Cal this year.
@Orangered123 Similarly, the Stanford and Columbia threads are DEAD (like 40 total posts), but the UMich and Cornell threads are super active.
There are two UC Berkeley transfer threads. Maybe that’s a contributing factor?
@lexluther96 There’s a difference though. Stanford and Columbia accept close to 1% transfers while UMich and Cornell have double digit transfer rates. Cal has a overall transfer admit rate of 20% to for example, UCLA’s 26% admit rate. UCLA’s thread is on fire though.
@BerkeleyBound12 That’s true, but in that case you’d expect on thread to dominate somewhat. Both seem equally “dead” as far as I can see.
@Orangered123 Completely agree with what you said about getting hyped about a school that’s hard to get into. But just that “what if” chance gets me hyped up about these schools!! ლ(´ڡ`ლ)
@bigvoot Exactly. Cal is ■■■■■■■ Cal.
Pardon my language, but I don’t think there’s a better way to express that in such a concise phrase. In long form it’s the original UC school, it’s been home so many of the brightest minds in the world in the past and present. Numerous nobel laureates, olympians, macarthur geniuses, turing award winners, and great people have ties to the school. It’s the epicenter of some of the greatest movements of this country’s history and many of the greatest science discoveries of the 20th century. From Oppenheimer and the atomic bomb to the Lawrence and the discovery of 16 chemical elements and everything inbetween By god, Cal has a freaking element named after it, Californium. Most people would even attribute Berkelium as being named after Berkeley too. It’s one of the best universities in the world in general and the best university in the world for so many specifics.
It’s UC Berkeley and it’s 7 days 18 hours 12 minutes and 12 seconds or an hours drive away from me, whatever measurement you prefer to use.
Just found out today that there’s two threads. Looks like this one is more active, so I’ll leave the other one lol
@Orangered123 i noticed this last year and the year before. Berkeley’s is always the least active. Someone should do an analysis paper. =P~
Brace yourselves guys, the longest week of our lives is upon us.
@jonathaanv I don’t know how I’ll get through it. I should probably take a picture of my hair before and after this week. I wonder if I actually would find signs of greying of some sort.
I know not many people are on this thread, and most people would be happy to get into Cal, but is anyone hoping/holding out for regents at Cal?
Aww @Orangered123 I appreciate your attempts to keep the thread alive and I hope I’m not someone who contributed to the crickets! I just arrived in Yosemite after a long drive. I was hoping to either celebrate my UCLA acceptance here or hike the sadness off but it’s cool, ucla, it’s cool :)>-
Anyway, next week on Friday at 5 I’ll be at a restaurant with my other friend who applied to Cal! We want to check our decisions together.
Also, I don’t expect to get regents with my GPA, but I hope you get it
Hello all,
I’m an international student at De Anza College and in Psychology major. I applied as a transfer student at UC Berkeley with a 3.53 overall GPA and 3.83 major GPA. With such a low GPA, is there any chance I could put a hope on my personal essays? (I put in my inspiration for my major and worked really hard and carefully on those)
@doihaveashot2016 Don’t worry. You post often on here. Yosemite? NICE! Taking the weekend off or did your CC end early? Nice, I hope both you and your friend both get in.
I wish I had a shot. I was debating in the fall whether it’d be better to get a C in a major pre-req, thereby completing it in the fall which is preferably and ending the fall with a 3.78 or dropping it with a W and ending the fall and letting the UC’s see me have a 3.93. I decided to take the C in the major prereq hoping that it’d look better to have the prerequisite completed in the fall even if it wasn’t a fabulous grade than take a W and have it done the next quarter. I hope I made the right call there, we’ll see if that’s the case in 7 days. ¯_(ツ)_/¯
Taking the weekend off! I’ve never been and was invited so I figured why not, I may have too much going on next year to go.
I really hope you get in! I sense your love for Cal. And aw try not to worry too much about that. I think Cal really wants prereqs done so that was a tough choice but I’d agree and say it was the right one too. We’ll see soon enough. In the meantime, I’ll be stressing (I chose the wrong major to apply to). :-SS @Orangered123
What are my chances? So nervous for next week’s results…
(Already been accepted to UC Santa Cruz and Irvine, only other places I applied to)

Major GPA: 4.0

Wrote a one act play at community college and it was chosen to be produced on stage.

Your major GPA is within the range so you have a shot.
