@UCLAorUCBTRNSFR Seriously! Around this time last year the UC Berkeley thread was so active. It’s so weird
@goldencub how are you liking UC Berkeley so far?
So many results for alot of different things coming out next week. Not sure if I can take this stress. :’(
@Orangered123 I’m going even though none of us know whether we’ve been admitted yet. All the events sound so amazing! I especially like how they have transfer student panels and “classes”, going to be great getting the experience of how UC Berkeley professors conduct their classes Plus the drive isn’t too bad for me! Just two hours.
@Orangered123 I’m hoping for the regents scholarships. I mean, it is an extremely long shot, but I feel like my application was strong. I applied with a 3.95 GPA, left none of my extracurricular activities, work experience, etc., blank, and I feel as if my personal statements were great. I worked with UC Berkeley admissions readers on them, in addition to being a part of UC Berkeley TAP, Experience Berkeley, and Starting Point Mentorship. I would be more than content if I were to get admitted to Berkeley, but I am really hoping for that regents scholarship invite. I just love Cal so much, this week is going to be a difficult one.
Any of you just so over this semester? All of this waiting is killing me… and I have a quite difficult class this semester so it is not helping. Think I have a case of transferitis…
^
@lovelyyliz
Me right now. My data structures class is hard for me and usually I’m on top of it. I’m also doing it as a Honors class so yeah… So done with this semester right now. I also have transferitis, been slacking wayyyy too much this semester in terms of academics. Pretty sure I bombed my Data Structures midterm. I mean currently I have a 91.9 in the class without factoring the midterm… but I’m usually around 95 ~ 100. Need to push myself and do well in the final.
@Orangered123 this week will add a few greys to my head, that’s for sure haha
@lovelyyliz I know I’ve had transferitis this whole semester which has also been kinda tough. I’m over the anxiety of not knowing if I’m going to get in. I just want to know where I’m going to spend the next two years of my life honestly!
Are any of you considering grad school? And if so, do you know if a school like Cal would look at grad school applicants who attended for undergrad as a higher priority? I’m specifically seeking a Ph.D. in microbial biology, but I’d be curious to know even outside of the sciences.
@lovelyyliz I love it! There are great people here.
Just one more week…I thought I was anxious before, but this is gonna be a whole new level.
For real tho @plsacceptmeUCs
@Orangered123 i’d say that it would’ve been a safer option to take the C over the W. If I were the admissions officer, seeing a W in a prereq for the fall would make me question whether or not you’d pass the course by the spring. In my opinion, you made the better decision.
yeah I know that I am planning to get a master degree anyway so I think 4 years B.A. ARCH degree is more suitable for me. Plus it’s not easy to be placed in third year at cal poly if you don’t have a strong protfolio… I’m rejected by cal poly slo and accepted by pomona. Pomona is easy to get into for sure but still not easy to start as junior student. Some of my classmates were even placed in frist year after 3 years study at CC which is ridiculous.
freaks out 24/7
@BerkeleyBound12 @badminton4life Hey guys I also applied for CNR! Society and environment lol. Good luck, I hope we get in! What majors did you apply for?
@lovelyyliz Do you have a Calschedule mapped out that that I could get a copy of? I’ve been trying to figure out what events there are that are good for transfers but I’m a bit confused.
@BerkeleyBound12 I hear that most grad schools, including Cal somewhat dislike it when undergrads want to pursue PhD studies at their current institution. That said, there are quite a few people who do pursue PhD’s at Cal after their undergrad also at Cal.
@williamyang I hope you’re right. I think I’m quite the strong applicant. Finished all major pre-reqs in the fall, finished a recommended lower division philosophy class at my school that counts for an upper division class for my major at Cal this winter quarter, and I’m going to another school this spring quarter to take a class not offered at my school but counts as a for another major prerequisite. The standard IGETC done this spring. I hope that all of this outweighs any worry them might have about me being a person who’s trying to “switch into CS” if I get accepted to Cal.
Really worried about my major and my GPA though. 3.78 is pretty good but it’s fairly middle of the pack on the Infocenter. Especially since I feel that for the longest time I’ve been misinterpreting the Infocenter data. Especially since we have no idea how good the rejected applicants are like. http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/uc-transfers/1985197-am-i-misunderstanding-the-uc-infocenter-data.html#latest
The wait is killing me though. Less than 6 days left.
Also, a general question, but any other college confidential people going to Cal day? Or is it just me and @lovelyyliz?
At everyone on here. I (We?) are trying to consolidate everyone onto one general Berkeley transfer thread. Please come over to http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/uc-transfers/1887909-uc-berkeley-2017-transfer-thread.html#latest
and feel free to ask your questions/voice your concerns.
