The exact number of applicants offered a spot on the wait list is on the wait list FAQ.
Almost 3,800 - I don’t remember the exact number. No word on the breakdown between programs.
Spring admissions is only for L&S applicants, for those who are wondering.
Yo guys just wondering,
Can the waitlisted students (L&S) get off the waitlist and be asked to join during spring semester?
One more question. If people are sending waitlist appeal letters through email, what is the appeal section of the app really for…? I’m so confused. Is it just for the people that were rejected?
Does anyone know what happens if one who gets off the waitlist ends up going? Do they have the same opportunity to enroll in classes/dorms as the other students (excluding regents ) or are they placed in all fill in classes?
haha is this thread dead?.. does anyone know if this year’s waitlist admissions will be easier for OOS students or in-state students?
Someone should call the office and ask ^ that question…
I heard somewhere that UC system works together and that UC Berk tends to choose people who are not going to UCLA…
I heard that they will take mostly out-of-state applicants off the wait list to send a message to Governor Brown’s office in response to his veto of the appropriation bill last November.
I also heard that they will take mostly in-state applicants off the wait list as a part of a quid pro quo to get Gov Brown to reconsider.
Seriously, nobody who answers the phone in admissions knows, and no one who calls you back is going to share that kind of info.
When will the decisions come out? Will they actually come out before May 1st :)))
^ Literally what I was thinking hahaha. I doubt it though, I’m sure it would be in the midst of May. Because I was looking at another (old) board about Berkeley’s waitlist and people were notified by May 24. This was in 2013, so maybe it would be around that time as well.
Just thinking about it makes me ridiculously anxious because I really want to go here. : (
Did anyone here write letter of interest or sent additional materials to UC Berkeley? I was planning to do it when an alumni discouraged me from doing it…
@desperado3223 I didn’t either, but why did your alumni discourage you?
@tryhardclass He said because UC Berkeley clearly stated they will not consider additional information, simply sending even a letter could lead to them thinking this student is incapable of following instructions. He was waitlisted and eventually got in without doing anything, whereas his friends sent personal letters, additional accomplishments, and got rejected.
@desperado3223 hm… im pretty sure they dont like record the names of people that sent personal letters and try to give them an advantage or anything but still, i guess its good to not send a couple emails to directors when you really have nothing to correct in your previous application. anyways, does anyone know when anything about the # of this year’s SIR’d candidates/waitlist admittances will come out?
Sooo I was peeking at UC Berkeley’s yaks on Yik Yak and someone said they got off the waitlist already?? Did anyone hear back? I don’t know if it was a transfer or regular, they didn’t specify. D:
@discombobulatez i highly doubt it was a person that was admitted off the waitlist because transfer decisions came out yesterday. any further info on this?
@discombobulatez @tryhardclass Can any of you confirm if RD waitlist decisions have been coming out already? I haven’t gotten anything yet…
@tryhardclass @tammiluv I don’t know D: It’s what I saw on the UCB Yik Yak. Maybe the person who posted it lied or was confused about transfer decisions vs waitlist decisions. Maybe it was a motivational sort of thing? Either way, I didn’t get anything.
@discombobulatez you probably interpreted it wrong or they posted false data. by the looks of CC, nobody has gotten anything yet.
Does anyone know if the waitlist goes in your favor if everyone from your school who got admitted said no to Berkeley. Does that like give me a greater chance in getting in or no? : (
Happy Commit Day everyone!
I wonder how many people overall accepted their decision to Berkeley.
Anyway, May 1st. So the waiting game begins…
