Im a transfer student applying this fall 09 and transferring fall 2010 and im looking to join a Fraternity either at UCLA or Berkeley.
For some of you who may have friends or have joined one yourself, what are the procedures to join?
Such as, when do you inquire about joining? does it happen during Spring before enrollment?
I need to prepare so that I join one thats right for me but Im trying to determine what things to look for before joining.
What are the differences between them?
Do they offer single rooms ever?
If anyone has anything or can give me the run down that would be cool. thank you.

you are asking a UC transfer forum (which consists of mostly prospective UC transfers) about frats at Cal and LA? If you want more input from people with more experience, I would suggest going to the forums for each school, you’ll get a lot better responses.

even though I’m not a part of the greek system…I’ll give this a whack

pretty much all the nessesary information can be found at Calgreeks for UC Berkeley and whatever the equivalent is for UCLA.

The fraternities hold rush activities each semester where prospective brothers can meet and greet and mutually decide if they are a good match for one another. Following rush comes a pledge period, hazing/initiation, then full membership. You do not need to do anything prior to arriving on campus.

okay, hopefully ill just wait then until my acceptance letters…?
