UC Berkeley - Class of 2020 Waitlist

I think I would consider the FPF program even if I had the option of choosing a normal path. It seems really appealing - small class sizes, fulfill some general ed classes, small group of ppl in a big school, more one-on-one interactions with professors…it’s sounding pretty cool

The letter also says that the FPF and Global Edge fills up quickly so even waiting 7 days to commit seems risky - just a thought…

@shoresmom Click on the bear paws and on the page it take you too, there should be a box that says “read before…” and just read through it and click next until you reach the end. The log out and log back onto the page and the new deadline should be up

BTW! Financial Aid information is UP!

@imvegetarian2016 Is the FPF more like attending a community college? And do you think we would still be able to graduate in 4 years?

From what I’ve read online, i don’t think so. You get to live on campus and get all the advantages of being a UCB student, you just take classes off campus (in SF or three blcoks away from campus). ANd I think you could graduate in 4 years bc you would be taking classes during that time.

I applied as an integrative biology major so I just assumed that would be my major when I got accepted off the waitlist, but I cannot find anywhere on the portal a mention of my major. If I was accepted via FPF, am I undeclared?

@imvegetarian2016 Thanks you are correct just read through the bear paws seems to be different than a CC and being only 3 blocks away from campus would be good just not the normal freshman dorm experience we would get in the Fall - plz correct me if I’m wrong about this

I have a 3.4 and a 1500 and was wait listed. So unlikely I’ll get off

@SC5ive I think that if we turn in our housing app before May 7, we get priority housing. On the FPF website, it says that students participating in the FPF program get housing on campus, so we would get to experience the normal housing life!

Some websites I found for more info for FPF:

@imvegetarian2016 Thanks!

@amoore001 I had sat 1490 but my gpawas4.0 and my essays were pretty good. I think we were on the waitlist for some reason

We both had a story to tell.

for those who SIR’d after getting off the waitlist today, did you receive a confirmation email after you submitted your deposit?

@sc5ive @imvegetarian2016 I went to Cal and did the equivalent of FPF (was called Spring Admission in the past). You have a normal Cal experience. Only difference is maybe half your classes will be at a building a couple blocks away, but the other half will be ON campus. However with FPF SF, all your classes will be in SF, I believe. As an FPF student, you’ll be spending much of your time ON campus like everyone else. I was eating on campus, studying in the library, and sleeping in the library like the rest of them. Honestly, I think FPF is a great transition into college, especially one this big. I graduated in four years like everyone else. No summer sessions, nothing.

How do we exactly sign up for the FPF…?

@kornido Thanks for the input! FPF is looking more and more appealing than I expected it to!

Yes, I think they accept stories not only numbers @amoore001

@itsesthery How do you see your Financial Aid info? In CalCentral => My Finances, there’s nothing but the message “You do not currently have any Financial Aid information ready to view. Please check Financial Aid & Scholarships - opens in new window or contact Cal Student Central - opens in new window for more information.” Just need to wait maybe???

I was accepted earlier today into L&S for January 2017
UC GPA: 4.1
ACT: 31
a lot of extracurriculars and clubs
My waitlist essay was about the family struggles I faced in high school and how they made me a better student/person. I’m super surprised I was admitted!
