Who told you? @JohnM2020
I just read and checked all the boxes for the SIR for UCB but where can we deposit the $100
Hi guys. I honestly don’t wanna say this, but, somehow, i feel that i really have to say this. A lot of of students – mostly in-state or from California though – are so convinced that UCLA is as prestigious and as respected as Berkeley, or they believe that a degree from UCLA carries the same weight as the one from Berkeley. Well, to some extent, it may be is true. However, the moment you leave California, I think that view is no longer shared the same way. People outside of California view Berkeley in a notch above UCLA/USC. And, this is specially true outside of the US.
Internationally, Berkeley is regarded very, very highly. It often is viewed being in the same league where MIT, Stanford, Caltech and Oxbridge all fall in. But while this is often true for postgrad education, it cannot be denied that Berkeley’s undergrad level benefits from this so heavily. And, this is something that you should take advantage of, because it takes years upon years, several world-class discoveries, a long list of Nobel awardees and other prestigious awards, etc, etc, to build a name in the academic world. And, for me, prestige deserves higher premium.
@reden2016 true u have a point, but why are you randomly mentioning this now
Lol, maybe that was for those who are still deciding.
@reden2016 where are you going next year?
Anyone know how many spots remain in FPF? Someone who registered in the last day or so?
Sorry if this has already been asked, but for those of you that have already received notice of their admission from the waitlist, when is the deadline to decide? Is it 5/9 (tomorrow), a week after the notice date (5/2)? I can’t seem to find the deadline to accept the offer anywhere, and it’s becoming extremely annoying because Berkeley still hasn’t told me how much financial aid I will be getting, which is an extremely large factor in my decision.
@mang0es I didn’t get a response back on 5/2 so I’m not for sure about this, but if you look at the waitlist FAQ, this is what they say.
“Q: How will I find out if I get an offer of admission?
A: Students who opt-in to the wait list by the deadline will be notified, no later than June 1. You will have seven days from the time of notification to accept the offer by submitting your Statement of Intent to Register (SIR). To check your status, please login to MAP@Berkeley.”
I would recommend calling the undergraduate admissions office about financial aid if they haven’t let you know already.
Wave tomorrow or Tuesday?
@mang0es - sounds like your deadline would be tomorrow at the time admit notification was received.
@Faith2020 They sent me an email and said FPF is 70% full on 5/6
@FlyingLark should be Tuesday if admissions are releasing more on the 10th. Hopefully this wave will admit some OOS students! Fingers crossed!! And good luck!!
Hi peepo, anyone getting waitlisted for Engineering Undeclared? And anyone knows the odds of undeclared engineering applicants getting waitlisted? If I get waitlisted do I stand a good chance of getting off the waitlist? Thanks!
Guys when is the next wave?
Do you think engineering specifically EECS could be tonight?
@Thesolu Probably tomorrow.
My patience probably can’t keep up ugh
@robogineer1649 how do you know this?
I also think it will be today or tomorrow. I spoke with a man in admissions last week and he said the next L&S wave will be after they know how many L&S offers were accepted from 5/2 wave. Given that they’ll know that today by 4 pm, it should be soon if spaces are available. I see from a post on this thread that FPF was 70% full on Friday. Anyone have that information as of today?
