@whostolemycookie I got the same request last night
Why is Berkeley releasing decisions so early this year? not that I’m complaining lol
@halpmehxd Where’d you hear that from and when?
I have no idea why. Maybe the month of May gets too crazy? Maybe competitive university deadlines are earlier?
@pozzle traditionally they release last Friday of the month.
@pozzle it says April 19th on the portal
I’m so nervous!
@CalBear1998 You’re gonna it in. You got invited for the regent scholarship. I saw your stats too. I am so nervous here DO you think we’ll know the result like 2nd week of April?
Hi Everyone,
Major: UC Berkeley - Economics
GPA: 4.0 GPA (Prerequisites & Cumulative)
IGETC: Completed
UCLA TAP Certified
Applied: UC Berkeley (Econ), UCLA (BizEcon), USC (Marshall), UCD (Received Regents Invite + Tagged), UCI, UCSB (Accepted), UCSD
Other: I was selected to participate in Berkeley Summer Experience, UCB Starting Point Mentorship, UCLA CCCP Academic Achievement Scholars Program
Honors/Awards: 7+ scholarships
Extracurriculars: VP of Business Club, Treasurer Student Government, Math/Stats Tutor, Insurance and Financial Firm, Consultant Internship, Government Internship for an Assemblymember, Phi Theta Kappa Member, Volunteered as mentor for high school students, Waitress
I applied as Economics for UC Berkeley. I really enjoy data analytics and mathematics and my ultimate goal is to become a Data Scientist. I took statistics and calculus 1 over the summer and received A’s in both. I also finished Calculus 2 and Calculus 3 with A’s as well. It wasn’t until this semester I discovered UC Berkeley established a Data Science major in 2018 which is super new. How hard would it be to double major at Cal? I would need the data structure classes.
If admitted I would be admitted into the College of Letters and Sciences as a “Pre-Economics” major anyways and would have to complete courses and meet the GPA requirement to declare Economics as my major.
I originally was going to apply for Haas, but the selectivity of 6% (14% actually being eligible applicants) was too intense. I am a low income and first generation college student. UC Berkeley is my dream school. I applied for Economics because I realized I could still get to my career goal still with Economics as my major since the acceptance rate is slightly higher, although still very impacted.
It’s a nerve racking time for all of us. I have been self reflecting a lot of the past three years at community college. Just remember each and everyone of us has worked really hard to get to this point. Best of luck everyone!
@Ljforyou Hi! UC Berkeley decisions are released April 19th.
@CalBear1998 Yeah but it says on or before
@CalBear1998 I would be so shocked if you didn’t get in to all of your schools, your stats are perf!
@Ljforyou UC Berkeley always releases all decisions on one day. This year it will be April 19th, even if it states “on or before.”
This is the earliest it’s been in recent years!
@CalBear1998 It is completely possible to double data science, dont stress too much about it. I have friends whove transferred as stats/math/econ and have switched or decided to double major with data science
@CalBear1998 Should’ve applied to Stanford too lol, your stats are impressive.
@GoodAfternoonSir Hey! I have been following transfer threads for Cal for awhile now. I remember seeing several your posts. Rooting for you to get into Haas! You’re stats were impressive too! Don’t worry too much about not getting an interview (you still might)! My friends who transferred last semester and one that transferred the semester before got into to Haas without any interviews. That 2% acceptance rate at Stanford for transfers lol!!! I’d be happy just to get into Cal which is my top choice for Economics (Math intensive track). Hoping to get into the PhD Economics program after undergrad.
@CalBear1998 Thanks, man! I appreciate the support! That info makes me feel better haha. If you don’t get into econ with those stats, then it would be a prank lol. It’s nice to know you’d like to continue your education after graduating. One of the reasons why I’m applying to Berkeley in the first place is because I would like to apply for Berkeley Law and earn a J.D right after graduating. While taking classes at Haas, I can definitely take law classes too as indicated by my Berkeley advisor. This way I can get in touch and connect with the professors and staff at Berkeley law and I should be able to get in with a good LSAT score and GPA.
I would say good luck but you don’t need it as you’ve clearly got the goods
@GoodAfternoonSir No problem! That sounds amazing and hopefully we’ll both end up being future bears. Let me know where you end up transferring! Thanks and best of luck! :DD
4 Year University Transfer

What other ec and stats? Was wondering because I’m also a Econ major
@mesutozil what was the problem? it seems like you have very strong spec
