UC Berkeley Fall 2019 Transfer Thread

@Ohm888 so what happens if I take 2 courses over the summer will those still count for the different major I want to declare if I already have 70+ units at cc? Sorry still a little confused

@katyamzz Yes you can do that but you have to wait until you’re admitted and then ask. They’ll say yes, no reason they wouldn’t. I considered taking the second for IS at some far away CCC but then didn’t.

Thanks so much! @Ohm888
Helpful as always!

@xocrew75 you only get over 70 if you have additional upper level courses from a 4-year or AP/IB. They also count any previous UC units separately so that can add more. You will get all the subject credit though.

thanks so much you helped a lot!! @Ohm888

I’m just wondering whether the site where uc would show their admittance by major was true? I saw that IS major has allowed boundary of 3.41. my gpa by the time I apply is 3.51 and I’m an international student from a CCC. strong essay and lots of ECs. I wonder how my application would look ? anyone?

@ProfessorPlum168 thanks super helpful! However if they marked 70 units as of now let’s say and I take the two in the summer, will they just unmarked two and replace w/ these two courses?

@mochicheese I think you have a chance, I think what would be more important is your level of major prep completion (GE/prereqs) etc

i can literally do nothing right now but i have a test at 7pm

@dwayneee thanks for the reply! there are only 2 pre reqs but I’m only missing one (which I am taking right now but I did not get the chance to update in the application). Major GPA is straight A’s with just one B+. IGETC completed by the time I applied. Just hoping for the best!!

isnt it usually released around 3pm?

@mochicheese that’s good I’m sort of in the same position as you rn too. I’m an intl student too and my gpa is in the 50th percentile/I have decent ECs and insight replies/all my prereqs (all As) and GE are completed. I applied last year and my GPA was barely there with my coursework half completed and got rejected. Hoping the better grades and completed coursework will make the difference this year. Good luck to you

Today’s the day! So, my courses for Spring Quarter at CC have changed yet again since I submitted my TAU. Of course, all decisions are final by now but I’m curious who would I need to write to make sure I provide an updated course list? (they’re minute differences - ex. I put Modern Art History and ended up w/ Ancient Art History, got promoted to the advanced level of a photo class)

Good luck, everyone! Current Cal junior here (transfer) – the process is wild but I am SO excited for all of you. Don’t stress about it anymore, just be proud of all your hard work and know that Berkeley is just one school out of many. I remember not sleeping at all the night before decisions were released last year, and immediately crashing when I saw the confetti and congratulations message. You are all amazing and will do great things. Enjoy these next few months, because there is no stopping once you arrive on campus. It is hardcore, but the work pays off. Good luck and Go Bears

@lookingxaround I would email the uc application center and all the schools that you applied to and maybe even call? As long as they have a record that you told them it should be ok. I def wouldn’t take the chance of not telling them even if theyre super small changes bc my sister almost got rescinded because she failed to let them know of some rlly small things.

@katyamzz the summer CC courses would transfer over, you would get subject credit for the two courses (most likely) assuming that it articulates, but you would get zero graduation credit for the 2 courses since you presumably would be maxed out at 70.

Okay yay it makes sense now! Wooh thanks @ProfessorPlum168

Global Studies major
