UC Berkeley Fall 2019 Transfer Thread

@katamzz Has Berkeley already sent out invites for Regents?

your admissions counselor is assigned to you and you would see it on the front of your MAP@Berkeley page. Sometimes the assignments don’t happen for a while though.

The housing issues have subsided greatly starting from last year. Building Blackwell has helped a lot. All returning 2nd year students who requested housing for the upcoming year got an offer, if I am not mistaken.

As for not having roommates, your options are very limited with Cal Housing. There are singles available, but usually they are snapped up really fast by Regents people or more often, people with disabilities that need a single room. Or you would literally have to be in the very front of the line in the lottery queue. For example, at Blackwell there are only 2 or 3 singles per floor (7 floors), so about 20 out of 375 rooms. My guess at Martinez is that the ratio of single rooms to non-single rooms is about the same. You can certainly try requesting one in your housing app at Martinez or any of the apartments, but don’t hold your breath. Even the single rooms at Martinez are not really single rooms, yes you do get your own bedroom but you are still sharing an apartment. My kid actually did try (as a returning student) for a single at a couple of places, nope, didn’t happen. Off campus one bedrooms in Berkeley near the campus average around $2500, but certainly there are cheaper places.

@professorplum168 I have epilepsy, so I’m not sure if that would qualify me at school for different housing (obviously its a disability but idk if you mean disability in the sense of wheel chair accommodations). I guess I’m going to tour before I make any decision… I should hear back from Cal on the Financial Aid award by Friday or Monday

@misseskite you can talk to DSP about it and see if you qualify for any priority housing. DSP also has accommodations that allow for things like note taking, priority registration, taking more time on tests, and so on.

@CalAlumandDad hey, thanks! I’m an international student at a ccc, not applying from an overseas institution. I got into UCLA, Davis, UCSB. waiting on princeton, stanford, caltech, and ivies. im gonna try and appeal to cal because I really feel at home in norcal and dont want to leave all of my friends.

@uclaletmeinpls
Did you take all EECS six transfer recommended courses of Cal? How did you take them?

@jose1996 So kind and thoughtful of you to put the dates you were notified!

I am sure people will appreciate that when they are obsessively looking through last years thread.

when they hell are they releasing regents ???

That’s what I friggin wanna know lmao~ great minds think alike hahahaa jk @anthro101

Traditionally Cal Regents are released about two weeks after admission notifications.

@ohm888 is it exactly 2 weeks from the decision date or around that time period. this wait is worse than admission for me tbh because i literally have no idea if i’ll get it
