Is there a place to set up our email? Cant seem to find it
@RLSSME @ProfessorPlum168 So I have two AP credits (English lang/comp & French lang/comp) both with 3’s, would that count towards my units?
@90smix the 2 3’s should give you 10.6 semester units (5.3 each). However, did you take an English Composition class in CC? If so that almost certainly would override your AP English credits, giving you only the 5.3 for French.
@ProfessorPlum168 Okay thanks so I skipped English 1 (AP credit covered it), but took English 2
@90smix ooh this is an interesting one. I think you will actually get the 5.3 credit for English, but it is a void credit. Meaning you’ll have to take the R&C A class at Berkeley, since you didn’t get a 4 or 5. Which would then override your AP credit. But for purposes of determining minimum eligibility for transfer, I think you do get that additional 5.3 credits. That’s a tricky one, I would run this by admissions.
Just got the acceptance to the Transfer weekend. Anybody else going?
@ProfessorPlum168 Oooh okay interesting! I am going to Transfer Day so I will ask, thanks for the help
has anyone SIR’d yet?
@90smix you will get 5.3 credits per each AP course. You will also get credit for the second English course.
@Ohm888 Thank you for letting me know I am so relieved

This is actually a super tricky one. Not to induce any panic here, but if she has a 3 for the AP test and she used that to waive the pre-req for English 2 at her CC, doesn’t that mean she hasn’t fulfilled the major prep requirement for R1A/R1B? Would she even be allowed to take R1A if she’s taken a course that articulates to R1B?
One thing a lot of students mix up with AP credit is that just because your CC will let you use AP credit to waive pre-reqs for some major prep class doesn’t mean that the UCs will recognize that you’ve finished that waived class. Every school at each UC campus publishes a table (often draconian, Berkeley is pretty lenient in that regard) that lists which AP exams count for major completion credit (i.e. major prep completion).
@90smix I wouldn’t worry too much about it, as they’ve obviously seen all your exam scores and grades and still admitted you, but I would definitely try to get some definitive feedback on this.
OP did IGETC and a score of 3 fulfills the first English course and overrides any rules in any college at any UC. The UC honors IGETC even if Berkeley, for example, might normally want a 4. She did not duplicate the AP exam with a first English course as it was not taken, and there is no tie-in with the English AP exam and the second English course. There is also no duplication with the French AP exam. She is awarded all the units.
@Ohm888 so just to be clear, she wouldn’t have to take R1A at Berkeley, because IGETC qualification supersedes the normal Berkeley AP score of 4+ needed in order to get English Lang R1A credit?
Anyone knows how to get into EOP? I want to get priority in coop but could not find any info ab EOP for transfer student
@blonded1 Call Financial Aid back, tell them you’d like to submit a support ticket for the matter, ask them specifically for the school code (I believe it is the same but I say call to verify). Then go to your FAFSA and add Berkeley again, DO NOT REMOVE THE FORMER SUBMISSION FOR BERKELEY.
I received an e-mail two days later from Financial Aid stating they received my application and were going to process it. I was told that takes 48 hours. I have yet to receive an update, though I’m expecting to by tomorrow.
Do I still need to fill out the schedule update if I’m dropping a summer class? I still meet conditions of admission and still will have met the 60 units. I don’t see an option for dropping summer classes on the updater, which is why I am asking.
Nevermind, dumb question lol I found it
@ProfessorPlum168 yes, they honor IGETC, even though it’s a 3 and not a 4. If OP did not have IGETC he/she would need a 4.
Interesting, good knowledge to have!
Just as a forewarning, I had a FA appeal that took 3 months, but it finally did go thru.
