UC Berkeley Fall 2019 Transfer Thread

@fullogiggles Thank you! I also emailed my advisor and she said the same thing.

@QueenA101 Did you do transfer edge?

When do we hear back about our housing offer for on campus? Anyone know?

@FutureHaasBear Late June to early July

@Blonded1 @FutureHaasBear Wrong. I emailed the housing counselor and they told me typically a few days after the hosing deadline (June 2). So we should be hearing from them soon.

“Thank you for contacting Cal housing. There is not an approximate date. Usually after the deadline line after a few days offers are sent out.”

Does anyone know when we have the online appointment to meet with an academic counselor? I know we enroll in classes (try to) on July 22nd, however, I have no clue what classes to take. I have looked at the major requirements and minor requirements but would like some official help. I tried to make an in person appointment but they don’t allow transfers to until after the enrollment date. Just annoyed with the lack of official dates, or at least ease of access to the information on those dates. Any help would be great, thank you! And good luck to everyone, I hope you all get your first housing choice!

@JakeC23 I’m having the same issue. I heard that the advisors reach out during mid July to create your course study

Yeah, Golden Bear Advising will start soon. Just give it a little time! If you will be in the Bay area you can even do it in person. If not, I’m sure emails will start rolling in. I think they are focussing on students taking summer classes rn. The last batch of summer classes starts on July 8th. After that, I feel like all attention will be on fall classes. Just my thoughts! @JakeC23

@Trashception how do you do it in person? You just make an appointment?

I actually just got an email from my Counselor. Amazing timing haha. And yes, I was told during a Cal accepted students reception that you can schedule a meeting in person for GBA

you should be very proactive on getting an in-person appointment (they also offer Skype and phone appointments also). Appointments go quickly, especially the L&S counselors. You probably are better off meeting with your major’s advisors instead, usually they are a bit more available.

If anyone is in College of Chemistry and applied for the fellowship, did you guys hear back from them yet?

I’m just wondering if they send out emails to rejected students.

Edit: I just got a reply back from Ms. Tarin, she said decisions haven’t been made yet.

Anyone know who to notify when you receive an outside scholarship?

My teen received one, and they had signed something when they SIRed that said they would notify UC Berkeley immediately upon receiving any outside aid, but they do not know who to tell.

So usually scholarship monies go directly to the school, so you shouldn’t have to do anything other than telling the scholarship place where to send the money to the Berkeley Financial office.

we will we know our housing assignment?

@michaelershov its been a few days already

@FutureHaasBear On the housing application site under the welcome tab it literally says that the Offer Phase (Phase 2) of the whole application process begins late June to early July. Not sure what @michaelershov is talking about since its been days and no one has received any housing offers yet

I can’t log in to submit my Cal card ID photo. did anyone else have this problem? also, is anyone in college of chemistry?

@spiritualgift

Sorry for the late response but to answer you questions:

1.) My top two things would be a.) joining a greek sorority and b.) getting involved with one of the (political) parties on campus.

2.) As far as what I would do differently-a.) when you first enroll for classes please, please make sure that you look at a map of Berkeley while you are enrolling. Even though Berkeley time exists to help students, if you have to go from Barrows to the Genetics and Plants Biology building in 10 minutes you are going to be running your legs off everyday to make it to class on time. b.) Start research (URAP) immediately!!! It is sooo beneficial to do research, especially at CAL, take advantage of your resources!!

3.) As far as my living situation, my first year I lived in the on-campus apartments (Channing Bowditch.) Next year I will be moving into my sorority house. If you have specific questions about housing I can answer them in another post or you can message me.

@Art3mis101 I did not.
