I sent my high school transcript via parchment 2 months ago and calcentral hasn’t updated it yet. Should I send another one ???
@Top3UCorSuicide If it is being processed then that is normal, however, if it shows that the task is incomplete then send it again.
Hey guys, I sent the update form 3 weeks ago and did not get an update from them. I also tried emailing my admissions officer about it 2 weeks ago but he did not get back to me either. What should I do?
Wondering if anyone has received any housing offers or has talked to the housing office about when to expect an offer?
I just got a housing offer today!
Just curious where the transfer students are getting housing offers for. If you can post, I’d appreciate it. I’ll assume many or most of you are getting Martinez.
@ProfessorPlum168 My teen did not see doubles as an option on the housing application for Martinez so not sure if there were other choices there for transfers.
Oh my! My teen got an offer on of a $21,000 double suite in Foothill, which is way out of the budget so they have to look into other options.
What else are other people getting?
my daughter got Clark Kerr Apartment Double?
@spiritualgift FWIW cost aside, the double suites are spacious and nice from what I hear. If there’s a way to swap, I’m guessing tons of incoming STEM freshmen who would love to swap with you. I doubt if Housing would allow for swapping but it doesn’t hurt to ask.
I received this email yesterday as a “housing application update.” Should I be worried? Did anyone else get it?
"We wanted to provide an update to transfer students who are anticipating a housing offer for the 2019-20 academic year. The first round of housing offers to transfer students have gone out but you have not received one in this round as we have not yet reviewed your application as we did not reach your lottery number. We plan on sending housing offers in multiple rounds in the coming weeks.
At this time, we have filled most of our on-campus apartments options. If you are interested in apartment-style living only, Cal Rentals would be happy to help assist you. You can sign up for a free account at their site: Cal Rentals
If your housing plans for next year have changed and you no longer need a housing offer, please contact our office so that your application can be cancelled.
If you have any questions, please reply to this message or call 510-642-4108.
Thank you,"
@californiatopaz this means you didn’t get an offer for housing.
In the worst case scenario, everyone who got an offer would accept. If you were a freshman, this would be very worrisome, but it’s very likely that for the transfer student phase, some transfer students who got offers will reject it because they got off-campus housing or didn’t get the dorm that they wanted. I will assume there will be a Round 2 in a week and a Round 3, until the allotment for transfer students offers is filled. So hang in there, but be on the lookout for off campus housing just in case things do run out, or you don’t get the dorm that you want.
@ProfessorPlum168 Thanks for the info! I’m kind of freaking out because I was planning on living on campus.
I got a parent email saying something about if tuition is not paid by something like August 23rd then student may be dropped from classes.
My teen has a Cal Grant and Blue and Gold to cover all of tuition so wondering if the tuition will be automatically paid by the school or if there is something we will need to do?
Most of the school and public scholarships and grants fund about 2-4 weeks before the beginning of classes. This goes for August and also for January. The January window is tighter, usually you won’t see anything until a week to ten days after New Years Day.
@ProfessorPlum168 Thank you! Wondering if you will see the tuition as paid or subtracted somehow in the financial aid portal?
There are some finicky things you should know about wrt CalCentral and money movement. Make sure you set up an online refund account that is connected to CalCentral. The account has to be in your kid’s name. This is a separate account that is different than the one that you will be making payments. If you don’t set this up, and they decide to issue a refund, they cut manual checks that’s has to be picked up in the CalCentral office in Sproul which is a pain to pick up and cash. For some reason, if there are credit balances, CalCentral will sometimes give a refund rather than leaving a negative balance. And sometimes there will be a negative balance when you expect a refund.
Also, CalCentral will not interact with many 529 accounts, specifically those accounts not tied to a bank. In my case I have to do the extra process of connecting a regular checking account to CalCentral and do an extra step of moving 529 funds first to the checking account before moving monies to Berkeley.
You also do have the option of making monthly payments for on-campus housing instead of paying all at once.
Hi this question might seems stupid but how did you get your essay reviewed by UC admission officers?
^^^ prob by the Cal rep who came to the CCC. That would be my guess.
I just got an alert from CalCentral, it says “Fall 2019: Not Officially Registered”, “You Are Subject to Cancellation for Non-Payment”, under academics, status and holds, it says “Not Officially Registered. To become officially registered, pay your tuition fees and clear all outstanding holds”, and under holds it says “you have no active holds at this time”, and under my finances, due now, it says “$0.00”. Is anyone else getting this alert? The due date for Fall classes is almost a month away, and I have nothing due, so what’s with the scary message?
