I would think it would make a difference. Especially if you can get a 4.0 for Fall semester.

Iām an Econ Major with a GPA on the lower side, think 3.0-3.5 and I took stat 21w and Econ100a this summer and I did surprisingly well, a 2.85 so Iāll be able to declare. I was wondering if anyone did something similar using summer sessions and could share their application experience with me.

Hey all Iām a current Senior at Cal and a former transfer. If you have any questions feel free to message me.
Hi everyone!!
UCB is one of my top choices:)
California Community College Student
Major: Either Poli Sci or Media Studies
GPA: 3.84
Major GPA (for both): 4.0
IGETC: Done except for Math (will take in Spring 2020)
Major Prep: Done
Currently have 46 transferable units completed, 15 in progress for Fall 2019, and about 10-15 planned for Spring 2020
EC:
Full-time job
Caregiver
Political Internship during my first year of CC
UCB TAP member
Deans List multiple times
Etc.
Insight questions: I believe they are strong; I cover an array of topics/challenges I have overcome.
As of now, I think that my biggest downfall is that I will not have my Math class completed when my application is evaluated.
Other UCs Iām applying to are UCLA, UCSB, and UCSD
ā Psychology major
ā 4.0/4.0 GPA
ā IGETC and prereqs complete in Spring 2020
ā ECs: honors program, honors society, student government, officer in premed club
ā No job experience but many volunteer/community service hours, full-time student
ā School: CC in socal
ā Strengths: ECs, GPA trend and stability, associates degree, Presidentās list, TAP certified
ā Asian female
ā Applying to: UCB (top choice), UCLA (tap), UCSB (tag), UCSD
My biggest concern right now are my personal insight questions. Iām primarily writing about how the honors program/society helped remold me into a healthier student and my involvement in student gov. I want to tie my positions in gov/premed club with psychology and how it helps with my leadership. Really looking for feedback and insight!

You should talk to a Berkeley rep regarding that 1D situation (Iām assuming thatās MATH 1D?). In theory, a retaken equivalent class will replace the previous class in GPA calculations if the old grade was a D+ or worse, but it gets complicated especially if you go between semester and quarter systems. I personally know someone who was erroneously rejected from Davis because admissions didnāt throw out the old grade when they should have.
Unfortunately, Berkeley Engineering has a hard grade cutoff of 3.5. If your major GPA is above 3.5 or if there are extenuating circumstances, they encourage you to send them an email, else your application will be automatically screened out. If you expect that to be the case, Iād personally save the application fee and not apply.

If Iāll be having over 60 units by the end of fall semester, can I still apply to UCB as junior transfer? Even though some classes will not be transfer for sure since Iām coming from a CSU.
Yes, you will be applying as a junior transfer.
You could have 100 units and still apply, you would come in with 70 max units.

Hello All
I transferred to UC Berkeley Fall 2018, so if anyone has any questions feel free to ask me! BTW, Iām finishing up my studies in Poli-Sci/Pub Pol. And can answer a lot of questions regarding the L&S department in particular. Also I wanted to clarify something- just because your gpa falls below the average that is published on Calās website should not deter you from applying! My transfer gpa was dismal at best and yet here I am. Good luck on your applications, Fiat Lux!
