Hey everyone, last years thread started back in June so I figured we were a little overdue.
no
It might be better to start the Haas transfer thread in the UC Berkeley forum.
@UCBUSCalum No this is the right place for transfers. It will get moved back here.
@UCBUSCalum: Per agreement with @Ohm888, any UC transfer thread will be moved to the UC Transfer forum. This thread was originally posted in the UCB forum.
@Gumbymom ; @Ohm888 : I agree. However, there are transfer questions in other UC forum, i.e., UCLA. Should be consistent. Haas is unique because it is a well known business school. Thanks.
Do Berkeley students understand the IGETC rules for Haas? Do they understand what courses transfer from a CCC? Do they know the transfer major course requirements? Do they know how they handle military transfers? It’s not the same process. Transfers come to this forum and help other transfers out.
We do try to keep transfer questions in one area but it’s not possible to monitor everything.
Hi! I’m currently stressing over the PIQs. Can you give me some advices on how to compose them? @Ohm888
Hey @SilianRail, thanks for starting this thread. I’m new to the site, but saw some of your posts when scrolling through the thread for last year’s Haas applicants. Congrats on applying this year! I also saw that you are a fellow high school dropout—I believe you are the only other high school dropout I have encountered who is applying to Haas.
I ended up leaving high school pretty early (my mom suffered from alcohol and drug addiction and was often too inebriated to drive me to school in the mornings—causing me to frequently miss class throughout my youth). Consequently, at age 15, I was informed that I had missed too many days and couldn’t continue at my high school. I was advised to take the California High School Proficiency Test (since I was too young to be eligible to take the GED), so I did that. Then, eventually, I started at a community college once I was able to drive myself.
I’ve been quite worried about how Haas will view the dropout aspect, though—so it is nice to know that someone else is in the same boat!
Haas prompt 2019:
“Provide us with a specific example of how you helped to foster an environment where differences are valued, encouraged and supported. Describe the situation and the role you played. If appropriate, describe any outcomes."
Got the email today; man that essay is hard
I might write about a volunteer experience I had working with underprivileged kids
I have no idea what I’m going to write about. Ugh!
@ashleymp actually same I’m not sure what to write about
Oh man this essay prompt is difficult! I expected them to give us a prompt about honesty or other qualities.
Hmm I could write about my experience working in daycare with my aunt. We’ve done many activities that required teamwork and skills that each person in groups I formed had.
For the EC, Volunteer, and Job Experiences, do we have to write the description in full and correct sentences? Or just make a list? Anyone knows?
@Iwishforhaas Not required but they recommend we should write detailed descriptions about all of our activities. https://■■■■■■■■■■■■/haas-supplemental-application/
@GoodAfternoonSir That’s a great start!! I’m still trying to come up with ideas for mine.
I feel this essay would be easy for people who are officers in a lgbtq club. this prompt also seems different than previous years
