I'd be majoring in Biology (planning on doing pre-med). I visited UC Berkeley and really loved the atmosphere, but I'm not sure it's worth the 55K price tag (didn't get any FA at all). Luckily my parents can afford it, but is it worth it? I am a Washington state resident, and considering the prestige of UW's medical school and it being less than half the cost, would that be the better option? Again, in terms of how well I feel both the schools fit me, I liked both. The only thing that is holding me back with UW is the fact that I will have to go to school with a bunch of people from high school. In the long run, that seems like a trivial matter compared to the cost of Berkeley. Please help :( Thanks!

UW has 27,000 undergrads. If you don’t want to interact with students from your high school, you don’t have to. Unless you seek them out, the most contact you’ll ever have with them is a head nod if two of you see each other walking on the sidewalk.

Go to University of Washington. It’s an excellent school, relatively low cost (for a student that can easily afford $55,000 a year), and offers enormous opportunities.

Yeah I realize that I won’t be seeing most of these people, and in the end it doesn’t really matter. In terms of quality of education it would be pretty much the same at both. Thank you for your opinion Definitely helped me put things in persepective

Berkeley has more reputation but for pre-med, save the money.

Absolutely not.

This is a pretty easy decision for UW

Go with UW.

Save the money for expensive medical school.
