UC Davis Best/Worst

I’m sure there’s another thread out there somewhere, but as a prospective freshman with UC Davis currently sitting at #1 on my list of potential universities, I only thought it fair to ask;

What are your favorite/least favorite things about UC Davis?

Any and all answers are appreciated. Just curious :)

Worst: The intolerance. A mannequin was hung in effigy at the women’s center. Hate was sprayed all over the LGBT center. Spray-painted swastikas pop up frequently and the administration says nothing about them, tacitly condoning them. Because of the lack of support on these matters, I feel very unsafe at Davis.

The city of Davis can be very xenophobic too – doing things like stopping minorities with cars excessively, assuming everyone who gets raped was drunk and ‘deserved it’ (Davis residents have actually said this to me and no one has ever piped up to disagree), and blaming everything on students even when they’re often no better. For example, they complain about students with cars but almost everyone who has gotten aggressive on me on the road has looked a bit old for a Davis student.

Best: I’ve had a few professors I really liked. Online chatter even agrees with me on some of them.

Best:
-Friendliness of students/town
-Green Campus (both literally and figuratively)
-Bike friendly
-Quintessential college town

Worst:
-Large introductory classes
-Difficulty of getting classes (although it’s generally not a problem, especially if you have a fair amount of AP units.)
