I did, but the UC system schools were my first choice and what I have been working for for years, and yet all I’ve gotten is a fat pile of nothing :((
Son accepted. In state. Letters and Science, Econ. Rejected from Irvine, Santa Barbara and SDSU. Accepted to Cal Poly. I need a vacation.
Got in for Political Science!!
In-state, SoCal
GPA: 3.96/4.44
6 APs
Env Sci (5) and Eng Lang (5)
Taking gov, macroecon, microecon, eng lit (go to a stem school so not a lot of humanities aps)
Extracurriculars: varsity vb 4 yrs, club vb 8yrs, prez of chinese-american club, founder of org where I co-wrote an presented a new city budget (South Pasadena) to defund the police, volunteer for bernie sanders campaign, etc.
Essays were pretty bold (a.k.a. hit or miss, i knew that when writing them, there was a possibility of putting off admissions officers) wrote about growing up w/ social disorders, my relationship with men, my immersion into Chinese culture as a white person, and the experience of writing the city budget mentioned above
Extremely grateful for this opportunity but this is by far not my first choice. If I start getting good news in the coming weeks, I will likely give up my spot. Hope someone can benefit from it
Perhaps this is because UCD’s total enrollment as well as freshman class is a lot bigger than UCSC’s?
Just got the email at 3:40 PM. Waitlisted CS. Rejected UCI and SLO. 4.20 UC capped.
Accepted! In-state, applied mathematics. Also accepted by UCSB, waitlisted by UCI and UCSC.
but then how are people with much lower gpa’s getting into ucsc and waitlisted from ucd?
I’m in a similar situation. It feels like the hard work didn’t pay off or mean much. I am still hoping there’s a reason for all of this even though it’s hard to feel that right now. I believe in your success.
Good luck! I am rooting for you!
Son accepted for Civil Engineering! He’s OOS. He’s really hoping for UCLA acceptance but we’re being realistic about that.
UC Davis has always required an essay for waitlisted applicants. Tell them why you would be an asset to the UCD student community.
Waitlisted again.
IN: Biomed Engineering, Regents and honors.
I did not think that Regents got awarded at two UCs (got Regents at UCR for 5yr BS/MS BME. But was proven wrong now.
Hard work does pay off.
Sorry to hear that Supergirl. This year waitlists are expected to be extra long, and they will start accepting people from waitlist soon.
I don’t know but till then it’s too hard.
Accepted!
material science and engineering
Such a surprise as my 32 on the ACT has carried my other applications but UCs don’t see it.
3.6 uw
3.72 w
in state
rejected from ucsb
waitlisted at ucsc
i’m so surprised
Finally they sent an email. Waitlist. Accepted UCSC, declined UCSB. UCSC a better fit. Good luck to all. Will probably bail this one with the essay WL.
Perhaps and combined with the fact that they let people defer last year? But so did Davis.
Guys remember this, this is on the UC website for whoever got rejected! “Review of admission decisions
Our campuses review each applicant’s record thoroughly, and admission decisions are rarely reversed. However, students who are not admitted may request a review of the decision if they believe there was an error in the evaluation or can provide new and compelling information not included in the initial application. Each campus has specific procedures to handle such appeals. Contact the campus admissions office for information.”
doesn’t seem like very many were rejected…although i still havent received an email so i wouldnt even have known without cc. still hurts, though
