UC DAVIS FALL 2019 TRANSFER THREAD

Hope it’s Friday!! I loooove UC Davis so much! It actually might be my favorite UC overall, love the college town, the location, the safety, the weather, etc. and the rent is cheaper than most other UC locations

hope we all get in

@cloud7 thank you so much!! and good luck to you!!
@90smix rent is actually such a selling factor at davis! Like you could be lucky enough stay in a cute lil house. And there were lots of dogs when i visited which is such a plus

By far the most beautiful campus i’ve set foot in. Mostly because I love nature and animals. The campus is full of life. Theres squirrels running everywhere. Endearing egg heads lol Everybody is on bikes. They have so many blooming plants and trees. It just feels refreshing! Ok I’m ranting now haha I hope we all get in as well !

I have been reading this board for a couple of weeks now and I wanted to chime in. I am a former Aggie (Class of 89) and a community college professor. My son is applying to transfer to Davis and I have been reading here to learn more about the admission announcements. I love Davis and I love transfer students so much. I just want to let you all know that you are amazing. I wish the admin folks could see how supportive and wise and insightful you are here. I hope so much you are accepted, especially those who have Davis as a first choice, And if you don’t, know that you are still amazing students and people. Any university that gets to have you as a student will be fortunate. I know the waiting is hard as I am helping my own students with this process, but you will know soon either way and no matter what, you will be starting a wonderful adventure very soon. Good luck to each of you!

^Thanks for the kind words and support

So who wants onion man here?
yall should change ur pfp to onion man if guys got accepted…
change it to corndog pfp if rejected

UCD can actually get really hot in the summertime and very wet during the winter.

The impression I get is that if you don’t TAG you have a very low chance of being admitted? unless your GPA is over a 3.7-3.8+.

@suckinluv12 not at all. It depends on your major and many other factors. I was looking on the 2018 thread from last Fall and people were getting admitted with GPAs at 2.9

Hey all, my sister was a transfer to UC Davis in the fall of 2017. She came from a private university and did not TAG. Btw, you will only be guaranteed housing for one year at UCD as a transfer. She majors in bio and had a 4.0 gpa. Idk if this info is helpful to anyone, but yeah.

I’m waiting for tomorrow, too.

I love Davis, but I must say Santa Cruz is a more beautiful campus. The cherry blossoms are blooming right now and the forest feels so magical and grounding. There are sweeping views of the ocean too which is hard to beat. However, Davis is also very attractive to me with is sunny (and VERY hot in the summer) weather and chill biking vibes. I like them both equally I’d say, but if just looking at the beauty and nature, Santa Cruz wins.

I actually thought UC Irvine was beautiful. It was so peaceful walking around their campus at 7am on a weekday…there were few students. Birds of all sorts were chirping/whistling and the sun was rising over the campus and through the trees of Aldrich park. I haven’t visited UCSC…odd because it’s been the closest one to me…

I honestly didn’t care as much for the appearance of Davis. I thought a lot of the buildings were outdated. But I know the students think its a quality education.

@bl00ming just visited UCSC for the first time yesterday. It really is gorgeous. Nature lovers would definitely appreciate the surroundings. When I applied last year I hadn’t even considered UCSC but now its on my list. They have a major thats a perfect fit. I was 95% set on tagging UCD before I started researching UCSC.

@kristinpete I was like that with UCB. Took me forever to tour and I live about 25 minutes away. Then once I was there I didn’t care much for the appearance, surrounding area or the vibe. Course descriptions for my major weren’t all that appealing either.

Good luck to you both

Less than one day left before we all find out!! I’m awfully excited considering that I am not anticipating being accepted. I’m just ready to tear off the bandaid I guess  Best of luck to everyone!

I’m excited! Not sure if I’ll get in or not but if I do it will be nice to feel like I’m actually choosing between schools.

does anyone know around what time admissions are coming out tomorrow?

I read it in the UCLA thread but around 5 pm I believe.

@vstellations Why wouldn’t you expect to get in? Your stats look fine.

@kristinpete My school doesn’t offer all of the prereqs for my major and I also was short 1 transferable unit until two months ago. Just poor planning on my part! So I’m not sure how it affected my overall application.
