UC Davis social life

So I’m debating if I should attended Uc Davis because I’ve heard it’s boring and there is no social life… I’m a city girl so I know it’s going to be a lot different . So if anyone can tell me how the social life is ?

As I and many other UCD students will tell you, finding Davis boring says a lot more about the person saying that than it does about the town or university.

What are you looking for with regards to social life? Your social life will only be as active as you make it. If you’re the type to want the social life to come to you, then you’ll most likely be miserable. If you’re the type to actively seek out social opportunities, you’ll fit right in and find your crowd regardless of what you like to do.

Regarding parties and school events like concerts what can you say about these at Davis ? Do you go out or parties at Davis ? What is your experience with dorms

Parties are there if you want them, and easy to avoid if you don’t. As far as concerts, I believe you either get free or discounted admission if they’re having one on campus, but they’re not particularly frequent. Or if they are, they’re not advertised very well. Picnic Day and Whole Earth Festival are a lot of fun, but both happen in spring. I can’t think of any other unique, campus-specific events in fall or winter.

Me personally? I don’t party and never have. I hang out mostly with other people who don’t party because of that, but a few of my friends do go out and party. They have no trouble finding and getting to one when they want to.

My dorming experience isn’t the best one to go by, because I lived in Cuarto. Thanks to the suite layout, it tends to be less social than the other dorms. My suitemates and floormates would pretty much all go to Segundo or frat row (which is closest to Segundo) to party. This was in 2012-2013…I’d imagine that the party dorms will change year to year, but as a general rule Cuarto is less social, Segundo is the most social, and Tercero is more social than Cuarto but may or may not be as social as Segundo.

As far as academics what’s your experience with that ?

I have no complaints about the academics, besides a couple individual professors that I didn’t feel handled their class very well. You have some easy classes, some really hard classes, and most at just the right level of difficulty.
