“Have already achieved the minimum required GPAs in the course(s) from the groups above that have been completed before submitting the UC TAG Application, e.g. if one course from the mathematics, chemistry or biological sciences groups is completed at the time of TAG, that course must be completed with a B minus (B–) grade or higher.”
My question is, if I have a C for one of the courses (biology), will my TAG be denied? I have the minimum GPA requirement.
Any help with this would be appreciated, I looked around to find answer to this and I couldn’t find it.
Well as long as you have the right GPA required then you should be okay. I would recommend just applying through TAG and see if they approved you takes a few weeks if you get denied then just go through the regular admission process.
I had a C in all my math classes but I had the right GPA.
If you do get into TAG I can not stress this enough. Take easy classes now to start boosting your GPA just in case you drop a letter grade in a core class take classes like soccer, intro classes etc that you know you will get in A in that transfer to UCs.
its always a good idea to check with the xfer counselor at your CC or the UC rep when they visit. However to my reading the link says there are 3 sets of courses
You must finish these by spring. However TAG imposes an additional rule. For each of the groups, whatever you have taken by the time you submit TAG app must be completed with a B- average for each group. You say you got a C for one of the bio courses. What matters isn’t the one grade, but your average for the Bio 2A/B/C group, or as much of it as you have taken when you submit your TAG. If the group average for what you have taken is below a B-, then it seems you are not eligible to submit a TAG app.
But I’m not a counselor; for definitive word contact Davis admissions or see a xfer counselor.
@zevzev You mentioned that you had C’s on all of your math classes, were they calculus? and did you TAG Davis? The reason I ask is because UC Davis seems to have a grade requirement for calc, bio and chem but I only became aware of this recently. Please let me know if you were successful with the UC Davis TAG.This would give me hope. Thanks!
“Thank you for your inquiry. If at the time of TAG you have only completed one course, then it must be B- or higher. However, if you have finished more than one course, the GPA is averaged and must be 2.50 or higher so that C grade will get averaged with your other grades. So, if you have only finished one course with a C grade and are planning to complete the other course by spring, you will not be TAG eligible and will want to consider a regular application in Fall.”
