I’m hoping to transfer to UC Davis in the Fall of 2018 with guaranteed admission through the TAG program but I have some concerns.
Under the TAG criteria it states that I am expected to be enrolled full time at my current CC for the Spring 2017 term through the Spring 2018 term but that part time admission is accepted if you have a suitable reason. I did not attend at all in Spring 2017 so am I automatically SOL for the TAG program?
It also states that I can’t have more than 80 transferrable units completed at the time of transfer but in order to finish the rest of the prereqs I need for Biology I would end up with 88.
Any insight to my concerns would be greatly appreciated, Thanks!
Hi, I don’t know if you already submitted your TAG application, but one of my advisors said that you can have as many units listed, but if you have more than 80, they get to select 80 units (probably the ones needed for your major). I believe they’re just saying that if you complete more than 80 units, some of those units are not going to be transferred (I submitted 82).
As for the TAG criteria, there is a comment box in the last page, before submitting your TAG application, you can use it to explain your situation during Spring 2017. Good luck!
I don’t remember if the unit cap was 70 or 80 but if you take your classes at a California community college, you do not need to worry about the unit cap as long as you finish your pre-requisites and have a good enough GPA to get in. What you should know is that, when you transfer, you only get credit for 70/80 semester units (105 or 120 quarter units, can’t remember for certain) at the university, no more—even if you took 80+ semester units (120+ quarter units) at your community college.
Also, you have to be a full-time student for your TAG to steer easily. If you’re a part-time student, you might have to do some phone calling and ask them to work something out with you.
P.S. as long as your a hard working individual and show it through your application, you’ll get in, 100%. If you’re not, then hopefully you are in the lucky pile at the end of admissions.
