UC Davis Transfer Fall 2018--Discussion Post

@hullyyully admitted math major too, congrats!!

@ericbadmon I hope you’re right, getting offered regents would make me definitely go to davis. I was also under the impression that at least 100 students were offered regents, not just 60. In fact on their website they say it’s given to the top 1-2% of the accepted class. Last year they accepted about 10,000 transfer students, which means they would’ve offered it to anywhere between 100-200 students.

@ohbeebee Yeah I’m not sure where the guy got 60 from, who knows what the number is. Its just that it take times to select people for this, and I’m sure there was plenty of people who submitted it just 3-5 days ago, myself included. I don’t mean to sound entitled by saying this, but if they truly made all their decisions by now, I really don’t believe that they spent proper time on most people’s apps. Also, when I check the status of the scholarship application, it still
just says submitted, idk if it’s supposed to change tho.

Gotta wake up in 4 hours to drive from LA to Davis. :))

Anybody else here local that got accepted? I’m a local, i live in Woodland and go to the local community college (American River College). So luckily i can easily go to the picnic tomorrow lol

My friend was accepted and was awarded regents, I’m not sure when he applied, but it was in the second paragrah.
I don’t think I can post a screencap on here but this is what the two paragraphs looked like:

"It is my pleasure to notify you that you are admitted to the University of California, Davis, for fall quarter 2018 in the Communication major. We applaud your hard work toward this important milestone, and we would be honored to have you as a member of our UC Davis community.

In recognition of your exceptional accomplishments, you have been awarded the prestigious Regents Scholarship and are invited to participate in the University Honors Program."
etc. etc.

I remember for UCI Regents, people were getting it at different times. I saw one guy on CC got it, and then some other person was notified of it a week afterwards.

Rejected

Major: Human Development
GPA: 3.2

congrats everyone!!!

@coolskeleton95 I feel the same way  my GPA wasn’t all that great and I don’t know if it’s worth it to appeal

@goodBrujo9

Yeah you’d definitely find us everywhere lol. I probably might not consider Davis though cuz I’m so far down So Cal, I’m not sure how I’d manage up north. SB seems more likely for me, but hopefully LA XD which is such a slim chance, but seeing your stats, you got a better shot than me. Hopefully we both could get into UCLA

@christobruhton Thanks dude! I’m pretty happy I got in because I’m a CSU transfer(SJSU)

Accepted
Major: International Relations
GPA: 3.72
Prereqs: Done
IGETC: Done by Spring
First year at a csu, second at ccc

Hey guys, does anyone else have a similar issue where the coursework credit summary shows courses that you dropped and indicated on your TAU? There are 3 courses that show up on it, but they’re all 3 non-transferable (I know for a fact they’d regularly be transferable). Does that mean UC Davis already knows that I dropped them?
I submitted them a “change in coursework” thing anyways even though I didn’t actually change anything. The 3 courses are NOT significant to my major, and I still have my IGETC completed. I explained all of this as well when I submitted the change.

BTW: Cog sci major, 4.0 GPA and Regents.

International Student, Admitted as Econ major
1 year OOS 4 year uni +1 year California CC and 90 transferable quarter units with 3.9 GPA
Got into UNC and BU as well. Waiting to hear back from Berkeley, USC, and NYU!

@SoCalx83 I live in LA. My first choice is USC then UCLA. Only because I want to work in entertainment industry and obviously Los Angeles is the place to be for that. I was admitted to SB too. If My top two don’t work out it’s gonna be tough to decide between Davis or SB. I like the ocean but the courses at SB aren’t really in line with what I want to do careee wise. What’s your major?

Accepted- Didn’t think I’d get in tbh
Major: Psychology
GPA: 3.34
ECs: Average
Prereqs: Done by Spring
IGETC: Finished in Fall
TAG: No
Essays: Solid, but didn’t have anyone look it over.
-I transferred from a private college on the east coast and then to a CC- I feel like that lowered my chances a bit.
Residency: In State now.
Accepted: UCR, UCD
Rejected:
Pending: UCI (first choice)

@goodBrujo9 I’m comm, also pursuing entertainment industry. I didn’t apply to USC lol. The expenses just weren’t worth it. So you wouldn’t recommend SB for Comm? How would it differ going to Davis? UCLA though…ugh

@SoCalx83 I applied to Stanford too not thinking about expenses lol. USC is costly but I figured their aid package would probably be better than any public school since it’s private. But ultimately i have to factor that in as well. Davis gave me a really good package. Like, really good. Better than SB. If I get into UCLA I hope it’s comparable. I looked at the courses for Comm at SB and I really didn’t see classes that interested me or had a clear focus on entertainment industry. I need to check Davis. The truth is I’m also planning on doing my Masters where I end up to expedite the process so I rather be somewhere I can spend the next 3-4 years happy. I’m not sure SB is that. I want to do a campus visit. Road trip? Lol

@goodBrujo9 Lol I’m totally road tripping SB one of these days, I just need a good feel of what the campus has to offer. UCLA seems unlikely for me, so I’m bailing on the STOMP conference. Idk about Berkeley or Davis though.
