Hi guys.
I recently was admitted to UC Davis as an Economics major, and am having a difficult time deciding if its the right move. I’m currently at Seatte U as a junior majoring in Finance. I was trying to transfer to a bigger and better school, but I’m not sure if Davis Econ is THAT much better (I’m positive I want to work in the financial industry).
Seattle U may have lesser name recognition, but it has the city where I can network with professionals. I have also made some really great friends at the school, but wasn’t very happy with the social scene as a whole. Davis has a more traditional college feel which is pretty cool to me. This decision has been killing me, I’d love some input.
Thanks!
Something to consider is that a bigger school like UC Davis has more alumni which means more people have heard of the school period. How is it at Seattle U for finance? I’m applying this fall for transfer into their finance program!
All my friends who went to UCDavis loved it, and got good jobs afterwards. Where are you hoping to end up working/living after college?
Right, but if its not going to significantly help me, I’m not sure its worth the whole transfer process, you know? Seattle U finance is pretty good, theres clubs and organizations you can look into. Its a small community, but alumni are helpful. Where did they get jobs? Things like investment firms? I’m hoping to work in SF or Chicago or Boston. I’m from Hawaii so moving anywhere is fine with me.
Seattle U is a good school. It is in the heart of the city and it’s located to a TON of things. It also has good standing with its alum sometime this year someone anonymous donated a ton of money. Both schools are great but I would personally go with Seattle U because I’m from Washington and I’m a little biased. Washington State has tons of CS Jobs and ties with microsoft, Boeing ect. and there’s pretty good opportunities here when it comes to networking
A bit late response: but my friends went for things besides business. I had a geo major, a veterinary medicine major, a few others I can’t remember. No finance though.
