I took 3 years of Spanish in high school and I got B's in my 2nd and 3rd years. I know I can show my HS transcripts to get IGETC certified but I want to have as high a UC transfer gpa as possible. Will those B's in HS affect my UC transfer gpa? Because I don't want to have to retake Spanish at my CC just to get A's.

I don’t believe they calculate your HS Spanish grades into your gpa. I’m almost positive they just use the HS transcripts to check the box that you’ve taken the classes with passing grades. I’m sure someone will correct me if I’m wrong.

I think 2016Candles is right. I’ve never heard of HS foreign language class grades being factored into one’s college GPA. To my knowledge, they only use those grades to verify that one has taken at least 2 years of a foreign language and completed them with satisfactory grades.
