UC GPA and Fine Arts requirement?

Hello

My counselor told me today that the GPA’s shown on the UC websites are the weighted GPA’s with only the sophomore year and junior year. Is this true?

Also, I know that UC requires one year of a progressive fine arts requirement. I took a semester of ceramics during my second semester of sophomore year and I took the advanced in the first semester of my junior year. Even if there was a summer break between the two, does this still count as the one year of progressive fine arts?

The first part is ‘almost true’. It is the sophomore and junior year (for the GPA, they just eyeball all of it, including freshman year). The ‘weighted’ is a UC particular sort of thing, but essentially they give you an extra point for every AP or for UC certified honors (no other honors classes get the bump). Then they cap the number of bumps they give to 8 semester grades worth, at least for determining eligibility. The cap seems to go away in weighing for admission past that point, but that is not a certainty.

I don’t think the break matters. It says “one year (two semesters)”. But make sure you have the g requirement as well as the f requirement:

The break doesn’t matter. They just want to see two semesters in the same discipline.
