Admitted Student Regional Receptions – March 15 – April 20, 2017
Target Audience: Newly admitted students and families from targeted regions
UC Santa Cruz will host a number of off-campus receptions for admitted students and their families. Each event will offer admitted students an opportunity to learn more about our campus and meet other admitted students in their area. Members of the UCSC community, including Admissions and local alumni, will be on hand to answer questions and provide more information about UCSC and how the campus may be a good fit.
As with last year, receptions will be held in California, other states, and internationally. Travel will align with spring recruitment efforts when possible to maximize resources.
Locations for the Regional Receptions will include Northern California, Southern California, East Coast, Western States, Midwest, Asia, Canada.
Do I still have a chance if I got waitlisted? My stats: sat1380 gpa3.5 also do I need to write an appeal
Long time lurker, first time poster.
My son is a UCSC Regents Scholar (class of 2019). He received a specific invitation to apply for the scholarship approx 1-2 weeks after he was accepted (this invitation is completely separate from admitted student events). After he submitted the essay they requested, he received his results within a few days.
Because I have another son that may attend UCSC, I called the financial aid office (no really, I did), and they concurred that the invitations arrive as I have described above.
Hope this helps.
With UCSC my son was not invited to apply for Regents, nor was he asked to submit an essay. He was simply notified that he got it after he was accepted.

@Venomyth Information on number of students admitted from waitlist last year is available at https://planning.ucsc.edu/irps/OFFICE/cds_2016-17.pdf
@BunnyBlue, thank you for educating me. Apparently the process has changed significantly since 2015, to the extent that the financial aid office is still confused about it!
Does anyone know if UCSC has a group me?
Does anyone have any more info on the College Scholars Program? DD received an email asking if she wanted to be put on the Reserve List for this program, but liked the course options, and would love to get priority registration. Does this Reserve List move, and does she have a chance of getting into the program?
Has anyone been notified about financial aid yet? I still haven’t received my acceptance in the mail either. I keep checking the portal to make sure I am still accepted
does anyone know what was the acceptance rate for sc this year?
It was about 47%
we received financial aid yesterday
Did it come in an envelope or is it an email?
An email first: “Thank you for including UC Santa Cruz on your financial aid application! A Conditional Financial Aid Offer for 2017-2018 is posted for you on MyUCSC.”
Then the details of the award from Portal under Financial Aid of Main Menu

I’m anxiously awaiting Financial Aid info as well. Nothing on the portal yet. I’m in-state.
I received my financial aid. They only gave me 2.5k in addition to the Cal Grant… Looks like I can’t attend SC, unfortunately.
This years applicant pool was no joke. 46.5% acceptance rate. Congrats to all who made it. I am still waiting for my financial aid package but go the big envelope in the mail today
