I'm currently at UF (University of Florida) and I hope to transfer to UCSC in the Spring 2010 semester. I have a 3.4 GPA and have a strong intrinsic desire to attend UC-Santa Cruz. Does anyone think I have a fair chance of getting into UCSC as an out-of-state transfer or can offer an advice at all? Thanks!

Yes, I think you have a chance, but I know that they tend to favor in-state transfers. You would have to check if all of your coursework transfers over to UCSC. I’m just wondering, why UCSC? My brother went there and I live in Santa Cruz. It’s a nice place. I’m going to Berkeley though.

I think you have a good chance since the state wants more OOS students to pay the higher cost and UCSC is not that hard to get into. But why do you wanna leave UF?

My girlfriend and I have been pretty upset with the UF education.

Tebow and the NCAA National Championship are awesome but I could’ve gone to any other state university and gotten the same mediocre education. We want to go somewhere near the SF Bay area and UCSC seems like a pretty diverse, well rounded school. I don’t think I have the GPA for Berkeley coming from out state…but I’d love to go there.

Another big reason is because it seems like the chances of getting into a UC school as an out-of-state transfer are slim, especially with a 3.4 GPA. I figured UCSC would give me the best shot since they have the highest acceptance of the UC schools. Is this true?
