Sorry for the late reply. The reception was for anyone who applied, whether they had received acceptance yet or not (though a fair number of the people there had been admitted). It started out with opening remarks and talking about how the university started, what makes it unique, all that. Then they gave some examples of programs in place, student involvement, and the experience of transferring. They also went over the next steps, and financial aid. The biggest take away really was to use the resources. In the financial aid talk afterward, the biggest take away was to keep track of your to-do list on the portal.
They also gave a printout of important dates for admitted students that is a bit more expansive than online. I can see about scanning it and posting it if anyone would be interested in that.
Thank you and I hope u will too!
I am not an international student.
Are people hearing from this school slowly everyday or are they sending out acceptances in waves like UCSB? This thread has been pretty quiet and I personally still have not heard anything so is there like a specific date or series of dates I should know about and somehow missed or has everyone just accepted the fact that you will hear whenever you hear …?
Just received my admissions packet in the mail today. Got in 2 weeks ago. I wish i got packets from ucr and ucsb, its been weeks now ?
I’m STILL waiting my decision. I really thought this was gonna be my first one but now it looks like it’ll be after UCB… wild man
^^ I think you’ve been banned because of your name. I suggest changing it.
did you not receive an email?
@imstressin I want to know the same thing!!
how are you commenting if u are banned?
I think he commented and the mods saw his name and insta banned him lol
Are there any philosophy majors who have heard back yet??
@ucdochopeful2k19 I applied for Philosophy, but I haven’t heard back. I am coming from a San Diego community college.
@yiskers so am I! I wish you the best. I wish they would tell us already. The fact that so many people have gotten decisions from UCSC is driving me crazy.
Did y’all know that UCSC doesn’t read transfer essays? I was surprised to find out.

I liked the admissions packet. They included a letter, a certificate, and a decently sized booklet. I thought they put more effort into it than UCR and UCSB.
@kristinpete Dang you’ve already gotten packets from 3 schools? Lucky duck hehe
@willowstil Why do we even bother…
Edit: That was a reply to the link you provided lol.
Yes, well hopefully that’s not the last of them! I’m waiting on one decision in particular…
I don’t live too far from SC so I probably received mine a day or so sooner than others.
@kristinpete Yeah it was definitely interesting to find out. I wonder if they still look at ECs/work experience or if it’s purely GPA/classes taken.
Nice! What’s your top choice? I live pretty close to SC too but my app is still pending. I’ve only heard from UCR so far
@willowstil WOW! That is very surprising… quite disappointing really. Lazy really. Can’t believe UCSB, UCD, and UCR don’t read personal insights either… They’re missing out on so much when they don’t read a transfer student’s personal insights, sigh.
Hi Everyone,
I just got admitted to UCSC this morning!
Major: Business Management Economics (TAGed)
GPA: 3.7
Wishing you all the best this morning! Hopefully more people will get their admissions decisions this morning.
