does anyone know if there’s a date when appeal decisions come out or if it is more of a gradual rollout as they receive them? I looked to see when past appeal decisions have come out, but couldn’t find a specific date beyond “no later than April 20th”
very helpful information - My S21 was also waitlisted. Do we have any idea of how many waitlist spots were offered this year and how many people accepted waitlist spots?
I’m sharing some info to consider regarding housing, especially since university housing is already impacted at UCSC:
“Some UCs do not guarantee housing for waitlisted students and none of the UCs guarantee housing for students admitted on appeal.”
That’s helpful information. Thank you. That is surprising; if they guarantee housing to freshman you’d think it would be all freshman. Not sure why the waitlist admits would be any different?
So as of right now, nobody has received any notice of getting off the waitlist? I ask because my daughter is also waitlisted at UW and seems a few people have already been accepted off of the waitlist.
I haven’t heard of anyone who got off yet. On the thread for UCSC 2024 the first post about someone getting off the waitlist was May 5, so I think the timing this year is different. I wish they’d tell us if it was rolling or a big release of admits.
this is pretty niche, but does anyone have any information on waitlist applicants whose appeals were denied? ik on their website they say if your appeal is denied, your spot on the waitlist remains the same, but it would be nice to know if there are actual people whose appeals were denied that were still admitted off the waitlist
check 2019/2020’s discussions! i’m sure you’ll find something there. i remember reading someone’s appeal last year was denied, but they got admitted off the waitlist not long after :))
thank you! that makes me feel so much better already!
Idk but I wouldn’t be surprised if the people who appealed while on waitlist move up on the list.
question: if i applied for CS at UCSC, and was waitlisted, if I end up getting accepted off of the waitlist, would I be in the CS major, or would I be undeclared (I’m just asking bc UW is undeclared, so just wanna see if it’s same for UCSC or not) ty!
If accepted off the waitlist, UCSC could accept you into CS or offer an alternate major.
Has anyone heard anything about their waitlist situation? I know it’s probably too early…just checking in.
So turns out I forgot to send my official transcript for ALL of high school in my appeal (I submitted both Fall and Spring grades for senior year.) They emailed me asking to submit my transcript so they can consider it, but they didn’t give me anywhere to do so. Does anyone know if there is a way to update my appeal? I would just submit it again since I have all the information on hand, but I assume the appeal form has closed since it’s past the deadline to submit. Any help is appreciated!
I asked them a question about waitlist, and they included this in their reply:
“We will be contacting students between mid June and August if we admit students off of the waitlist. When we do offer students admission off of the waitlist it is a very short turnaround time to accept. We recommend that you do your research so if we offer admission you will know quickly if UCSC is the school for you. We have a lot of informational events, including virtual tours where you can chat live with a current UCSC student on our Virtual Events page.”
So I guess we do have a few months to go.
Wow…June to August. That’s gonna be a tough wait. Seems a lot later than typical.
How many of y’all here appealed while on the waitlist
Wow. I thought they would start rolling the waitlists out in may and June would be the latest. I’m kind of scared now
it can certainly be as last as June / August, but I’d be pretty surprised if we didn’t see a significant number come off waitlist in May… did they specifically state that they are doing things different this year?
in past years, they’ve done it either super late april or early may! obviously only time will tell when they will begin admitting people from the waitlist, but i think admissions office is just saying that because that is what it says on their website. I wouldn’t stress too much about it, everything will work out!
