UC System vs Ivy League

Overall considering all the factors: Location, Academics, Social Scene....what do you guys recommend

Berekely, Ucla, UCSD, or Harvard, Yale, Penn

that's a really subjective question. if you're asking because you're wondering where you should try to go, i would say don't let other people's opinions of schools make or break your decision. YOU do the research and decide what YOU think.

Harvard. They give you great financial aid for your education and it's the number 1 school in the world.

Plus it's a private school so they have alot more resources than any public school.

Thats not to say I'm not extreamly happy to be going to Berkeley.

i'm transferring, and i heard UCLA, and Berkeley are really good in transfering and really good in financial aide, plus i'm in california too....

What is your major? Mine's electrical engineering and I'll much rather go to Berkeley or UCLA than Harvard or Yale.

They're all almost equally as hard to get into as a freshman. Tough question but here's my list in order of personal preference:

Harvard
Yale
UCLA
PENN
UCSD
Berkeley

wow another ranking thread....we dont get many of these

rich people with small-***** syndrome ==> Harvard, Yale
others ==> Cal, UCLA, UCSD, Penn

For someone attending such a good school, I am surprised you would make such a fatuous claim.

in my opinion..

penn -- harvard -- yale -- berkeley -- ucla -- ucsd

ok, so tell me what do harvard and yale possess, except the "prestige", a vacuous concept in itself, attached to these school?

I never made the claim of superiority. Clearly the women who attend Harvard do not do so because they have "small-*****-syndrome." I have many friends at Harvard, Yale, and Princeton, and all of them are the most humble students I have ever met. Do not even start me on UCB students.

Clearly, you are resorting to baseless generalizations in order to sate your insecurities.

Just for kicks: Yale has a significantly smaller class size than UCB. That is one benefit I can identify off the top of my head.

There are reasons why HYP are ranked significantly higher than UCB, and a bigger endowment is not the only one.

1) UCSD doesn't belong on these lists.

2) For students who live on the West Coast, UCB and UCLA are perfect choices.

Citan, it was an opinion, take it easy. I don't go to any of these schools and by no means am I rich. I was just saying that if I were to choose...

Again trying to help the guy/girl out. Why would you attack me like that?

Go for a jog or something, take a deep breath. Get the anger out. Do something...

But most of those reasons inevitably come down to finances :)

UGGGGGGGGGGGGGGH HARVARD IS SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OVERRATED. its not even funny

personally (note, i said PERSONALLY) i'd rather go to berkeley than harvard bc of its location, diversity, and plus its way more affordable. thats the beauty of a large public school: DIVERSITY in every sense o the word..harvard is isolated/boring and and its packed with snobs and elitists, (my observations)....

well, it really depends on what you like. Small classroom, resources, tuition, financial aid, etc. If I were to pick, I would choose any school that is small but also providing lots of resources. But again, money is an issue to me, I can't afford to go to those private schools. It seems that UCB/UCLA/UCSD/UCD are not that bad at all. Diversity is one thing, think how many international students want to get in... worldwide reputation...wow

well.. personally.. I would prefer an Ivy school if you can afford that.. Because I always think private school provides better resources for students as they are "rich"...
