UC>SUNY=UT>UO
or
UC>SUNY>UT>UO
IMO
The only reason i put SUNY better than UT is because UT only really has Austin and its much better than any SUNY but basically every other SUNY is better than any UT besides Austin

nice any others ?
i am looking for sports, academics, social life, etc info

Uc > ut=suny=ou

i cann talk about UC’s [but not the others]

-regarded as best public education system
-if youre NOT FROM CA then the weather is good on all campus’
-if so, CAL & UCR is HOTTT!
-UCSD,UCLA,UCSB &UCI are nice and safe on and off campus [not sure about others but CAL is horrendous!]
-CAL+UCLA athletics are nationally ranked
-the beachh is really close to most of these locations
-i advise againist UCR bc i heard they have CRAPPY teachers
-UCD = best vet school
-i know little about UCSC&UC Merced
-UCI is known as a commuter school [UCLA kids often come home on weekends]

Ill add some insight on some SUNYs

Binghamtom- If you are looking for business or humanities, here
Stony Brook- Science or engineering here, along with pre-med, asian central, some students are very unhappy, out on LI, an hour train ride from the city
Buffalo- Huge party school, i dont know the best thing to go here for but be ready to party
Albany- Party school, decent for poli sci

MPD nailed it, although i’ll add on…

Binghamton is definately the most selective and respected of the schools.

Buffalo has a really good engineering program

And Albany is one of the biggest party schools in the northeast, but it also has a great bio program and the nations best nanotechnology program.

And Geneseo, while not as recognized, is the most selective SUNY school. It doesn’t offer doctorate degrees, but it’s a great school.

I’d say UC>>SUNY>UT>UO

My only complaint with the SUNY system is that I wish it had a flagship university.

Oh yeah, Geneseo also has some of the hottest girls

it is kind of a weird comparison since UC and SUNY have many strong campuses, while UT and UO are basically one flagship

The UT System is the wealthiest, with a $16B endowment and Bonds rated AAA. Unlike most public systems, public schools in Texas received a funding increase for 2009-2010. Also, the UT System is not just about UT-Austin; the medical schools are separate from the academic institutions, but also highly ranked. UT Southwestern in Dallas, for example has more Nobel Laureates on faculty than ANY medical school in the US. And the UT MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston is the #1 cancer research hospital in the world. It’s also important to point out that while the UT System has a $16B endowment (highest among all public university systems), it competes with the Texas A&M System, which has a ~$6B endowment, and is also in the top 10 of all universities.

I would say it’s UC > UT > SUNY = UO

UO is one of the worse state-wide university systems in regards to funding.

really ? i always had Univ of Oregon way up there among other colleges

In terms of state appropriations per student, Oregon is near the bottom.

what about tuition, sports, ?

It is rather high on tuition, but that’s not really a good thing from a student’s point of view. Of course, state appropriations come (mostly) from taxes, but at least tax burden falls mostly on the wealthy and not the student.

SUNY Stony Brook is about 90 minutes from Manhattan by train. The train station is on campus.

UC>SUNY>UT>UO

I would say the only debatable one is SUNY>UT but i think the UT’s don’t have much depth after austin. Geneseo is also very underrated and is extremely hard to get into

so UC is the best and UO is the worst

so now its between SUNY and UT

any more discussions ?

UT Dallas is actually quite good for engineering. And, as I mentioned previously, the UT medical schools are separate from the academic institutions, but also very strong. UT Southwestern Medical School is often ranked by itself as one of the greatest universities in the world, the same way UCSF stands on its own. In fact, the first year the London Times did their World University ranking (2004?), UT-Austin was ranked #12 in the world, because they made the mistake of combining UT-Austin and UT Southwestern as a single university. Unfortunately, they’re completely separate but it gives a good idea of the strength of them individually. There is definitely depth beyond Austin.

SUNY doesn’t have any good schools besides Binghamton, Geneso, and Stony Brooke. ANd even all those schools are safe for people with 1900+ SAT scores and decent GPAs and ect…
