UC TAG English Requirement?

I’m a bit confused on the English course requirements for TAG. It says that you are required to have taken two English courses, however I passes the AP English Composition Test, so I never had to take an English class while attending me CSU. (I’m a CSU student looking to transfer to a UC)

Does my AP credit complete this requirement

WHOOPS sorry I completely missed the “California Community College” part… my bad, pay me no mind~

Yeah, you can’t TAG if your coming from a CSU.

From what I understand of what @goldencub researched, if you use your AP English grades to complete the IGETC at a CCC then most UC’s won’t care if you took the course or use the test.

That said, if you’re not doing IGETC then you should look into each UC’s policies and the policies of the colleges/departments the major you’re interested in says about transfer credits. For example I want to transfer to UC Berkeley’s College of Letters and Sciences. If a student doesn’t get IGETC certification as a transfer L&S requires them to complete the specific L&S Breadth which doesn’t accept AP English as an acceptable equivalent.

If you’re in doubt call up the UC office and confirm for yourself. Only the college can give you confirmation.

@Orangered123 doesn’t matter since OP is coming from a CSU

Oh, I missed that. Thanks for the heads up!

Anyhow, to complete IGETC, you need the critical thinking/comp course from the CCC. AP will not fulfill that course.
