Sorry for hijacking your thread. I just have a quick question for @luckie1367
You said you found out your TAG was accepted in November. Was this before or after you submitted your admission application?
@LopApo, before!
Not all UCs let you know that early though!
Thank you for your fast response!
I was asking because I plan on TAGging to Irvine and depending on whether or not my TAG app gets accepted, I could probably select a different set of UC’s to apply to.
When you apply for TAG, is that also the time you can apply for other UC’s? Or is that separate?
@avagadro23 you have to apply for TAG before September 30th. It’s a separate application.
@LopApo, I don’t think Irvine is one that has an early notification, sorry!
@avagadro23 The TAG and the UC application are separate. TAG is due in September and the UC application in November. You can only TAG to ONE school, but you can apply to all UCs if you want.
This may be a dumb question, but can you apply for TAG during spring? Can you even transfer to a UC for spring quarter?
The only UC open in the spring (sometimes) is Merced, and Riverside (rarely)
@luckie1367 I know you said that as long as all TAG requirements are met, then one should be able to get in. Still, only thing I’m worried about is that my 3.24 GPA is way too close to UCD’s threshold of 3.20, lol.
Dude anything above 3.2 is acceptable. You could have a 3.201 and it would be fine.
It’s a yes or no, you either meet the requirement or you don’t
I’m also TAGging to UCSC, and I read more into details about TAG that I missed and found that I will have needed to complete a physics class prior to submission. At the time I’m submitting my TAG that physics class will currently be in progress, and it’s the only class holding me back from applying at that time. Do I have to wait until the next submission date to apply after this class will be done, or is there a way any way I can get around this, or some exception?
Nope, if its a requirement its pretty set in stone. It definitely says prior to submitting the TAG?
Yeah :\ That sucks one class will hold back my submission for a year. I’ll have to talk to my counselor I guess.
You can still apply regularly to UCSC, you just can’t TAG.
OR you can TAG somewhere else
Yeah, I suppose I’ll do that. MY GPA will only be around a 3.0 at that time though :\
What major?
Astrophysics.
