UC Transfer 2018 Applicant, Will A Change In My Schedule Alter My Chances of Acceptance?

Hey guys!
This is my first post so I am unsure if anyone will reply to this, or even see this. Anyways, I applied to several colleges, including UC’s this past fall. I have already been accepted to two UC’s, but I’m waiting on all of the rest so far to make a decision. In my UC application I put that I was planning on taking Chemistry 22, and Honors Physical Anthropology. Due to my community college being AWFUL at scheduling, I was not able to get those classes, instead I’ve taken English 1B (a requirement for Cal Poly Pomona) and Geography (which satisfied my UCI requirement in place of Anthro). I have to petition for chemistry because I took 2A an earlier semester and it is introductory chemistry as well. Anyways, my question is, although I have basically met the requirements for the schools, (except UCSD’s chem 2A issue), will a change in my schedule affect my chances of being accepted? And should I report these changes before or after acceptance?

Thank you for any insight possible

I’m in the same boat as you @anthonydavis, I attempted to get the remaining honors units at my CC in one semester but failed miserably as I just moved and then had to move again this time with no where to go. I dropped 11 units, 5 of which was the language course for IGETC. I still have a chance as IGETC is not required as I still cover the 7-core courses for UC and 60+ transferable units plus major prep for both 1st and 2nd choices but we’ll see.

For my case, the UC’s sent an email asking for proof of a few AR courses with a link to a page where I answer their questions and submit unofficial records and documents. There was a message board there where anything posted can be seen by all the UC’s. I Informed them that I dropped these classes as a result even though my unofficial transcripts has yet to reflect this. If the UC gods accept me, then rescind me later because of transcript differences in reported grades, I plan on telling them I told them this in the email. But I doubt that will happen and Im sure that they have noted it so an acceptance on my part should be clear. Tell them now so that your wait will come to an end officially in April. I’ve heard stories of people moving to the UC campus city and establishing life, financial aid, then uh-oh, discrepancy and a rescinded letter. Not to mention I’m sure they made a loud announcement about it to their friends and family. Don’t be that person…

Hey @college4fun thanks for the reply! I’m unsure if you applied to UCLA, but they had on their page that IGETC is less important than getting your prereqs down so I think you are fine even if you are not IGETC certified  I guess I will have to start calling admissions and letting them know that my spring schedule got switched up… I’m just kind of annoyed that I’m most likely going to have to call all these people telling them that I changed my planned courses, even though I switched them around to make sure they were still one of the courses that fulfill a prereq. You’re right though, better to tell them now and have them take that into account instead of getting a rescinded letter later down the line.

You said that you are taking honors units, is that for TAP? I also want to drop my English 1B class and get a W (if I get accepted into a school I’d prefer to go to over Cal Poly) but again, I’m worried that a W will result in a rescinded letter. Any thoughts? And I’m sure that because of your situation, and not having a place to go, the colleges you applied to will understand why there’s a difference between planned courses and actually taken courses.

Good luck and let me know if you get any replies from the UC boards!!
