Jammin', man.

AAAAH! Finally got all my final fall grades. Can't wait to update the app and go back to trying to forget about it!

Sweet, as a fall 2007 UCLA transfer, you're chances aren't that great. I transferred with a 3.9 GPA and business economics major. The UCs don't care about ECs when it comes to transfers, that's for freshmen.

i got my fall grades long time ago.... i just cant wait till winter classes ends...
and also updating starts @ jan.7 tomorrow!

Schools: UCLA, UCSB, UCI, UCSD, and UCR as a backup.
GPA: 3.72
Major: Business Economics

I never knew that BizEcon was so popular!

Torrancecali-I just got mine. They trickled in one by one -_- and the wait was agonizing. I know, I'm so excited I'll probably stay up and do it like 12:01.
P.s. has anyone else done the Fafsa? My parents still don;t have their tax returns and I don't know if it's a good idea to estimate. It's kinda freaking me out. :P :(

I've completed every field on my FAFSA except for one: non-taxable interest income. I've lost electronic access to my Roth IRA and will have to make a call tomorrow to find out.

Don't freak out, though. Your parents will get their W2s before January 31st, and that will leave you plenty of time to complete your FAFSA before any deadline or cutoff. I don't think it's strictly first come, first serve. I think there's just priority deadlines.

Question: what if my parents are in foreign country? how does that work?

Supposing they're American citizens paying American taxes, you just take the numbers off their returns.

They should have everything they need for their taxes sent to their mailing address by January 31st, and if they're not there to open it and you need it for your FAFSA you could probably get their permission.

Not sure specifically where your question lies. (;

--Joe

my parents are not american citizens... although my mom is a permenet resident

Ahah....

Based on a FAFSA guide and some information from the IRS, it's clear that your mother's income at least should go under untaxed income. This is because your mother's income could be interpreted as untaxed under the heading of foreign income exclusion, and the FAFSA specifically mentions this exclusion. Your father's income is likewise untaxed--and I'm talking about by the US of course--and so it should probably go here as well, though foreign income exclusion doesn't specifically apply. If there's a question on the FAFSA about "any other unreported income", then you might put it there instead.

Alternatively, you could just elope and simplify the whole matter enormously. (;

Hope this helps,
Joe

i just talked to UC Berkeley rep... she said since i have total 70units(maximum) so i could only talk 50units at Berkeley this really sux...

KGZotU- I'm mainly freaking out bc my #1 choice school's FAFSA priority deadline is January 22 & it's a private, meaning I desperately will need money. My parents also said they'd be getting their forms on that day at earliest. Someone somewhere is being a slow, lazy bum and hopefully not costing me a small fortune. :P lol.

P.s. I'm sure I'll be fine, this will just delay the whole admissions process by a bit, i think. nauseated

Hmm...just remember that even if they don't get their tax forms soon enough they can always get a hold of their human resource department and get the info there.

So, you're completely covered no matter what happens. Should feel good to be done with it, though. (;

I know. Thanks. I just feel helpless for now. And the slowish winter break is not helping, haha.

Hey, I was hoping I could get a prediction. I'm coming out of a community college and I'm waiting for responses from some California schools. I'm a phil major with a 3.2 and I'm hoping to go to UCLA. I taught english in Bangladesh over the summer, edited the school paper, was in a program where I tutored a foreign exchange student, work at the red cross and was part of a few clubs. I know this is a stretch but I feel like I'm on the edge so I was hoping someone could give me a response. I have one more quarter in the spring and I'll have to submit those grades before I get a response in April. I could potentially raise my gpa to a 3.4 but I don't if they'll decide on my fate before or after my spring classes end. Do I have any shot?

Asif,

The latest grades that they might consider are from a semester system winter "intersession". Basically, the last update you can make is February 15th, though UCLA has a priority deadline of January 31st. However, some people have reported ad reps saying that those winter grades would not be considered.

Are you transferring from a California Community College, or out of state? That could swing it.

Hope this helps,
Joe
