I am a sophomore at a ccc-
I applied to four colleges during the fall of 2018, UCB, USB, UCSC and UCLA as a film production/studies major. Throughout the past month I’ve been getting hit by waves of rejection letters. I got especially surprised by a rejection from USB, in my opinion I believed I had all they were looking for as a student. I figured out that I am missing 5 units, a miscalculation by my counselor, in which she said I needed 20 units this semester(which I am taking) to be at 60units before the end of the semester. However, I do not blame her as it’s entirely my fault for not double checking. What do you think my chances are for appealing my decisions? I understand that UCLA has a low acceptance rate for film, let alone transfers. I have a 4.0 gpa, quite a bit of extracurriculars(a lot in film), ptk and honor student. I was also quite proud of my script, film analysis, and essays I provided to UCLA.
Thank you.
If you’re missing 5 units, unlikely.
Even if I inform them I would be taking them in the summer?
If that 5 units is the pre-reqs for majors and the specific breadth requirement, you must finish it by Spring.
For example: UCLA does not require IGETC, so if you miss one or two courses to have it, as you want, you can take it during the summer prior to attend UCLA in Fall. But that subject is not counted for admission decision.
I think I read it on their website.
But your case is different because you do not have enough 60 transferable units to be eligible for transfering first.
Yeah I already completed my ge requirements for transfer, regarding my major (film production) in UCLA, they do not require any courses. So I’m just missing some units to complete the 60unit minimum. They wouldn’t even consider summer courses? So… I guess my chances are hopeless… ?
