Currently a UCR student (first year) and I possibly want to transfer out to another UC, probably UCI. Long story short this place is just not the environment for me but I will give it until the end of my sophomore year to decide. Anyways, I’m still wanting to transfer possibly but I have no idea what classes I need to take to transfer out.
I read UCI transfer page and it said psychology majors must have a 3.0 gpa or higher and take 90 quarter units. Surely there are more requirements I’m missing out right? Such as what GE classes I will need
Thanks!
The GE requirements at UCR would fulfill the GE requirements for UCI by UC-UC reciprocity. You can check assist.org to see which major courses are required for transfer to UCI.
From UC website:
If you are hoping to transfer from one UC to another in junior standing, the best thing you can do is complete the GE requirements listed at your current UC and get a Letter of Reciprocity. The Letter, which you request from the Registrar’s Office, certifies that you completed the full GE course list at your current UC and will therefore not be required to take any other GE courses at your new UC, even if they differ.
@Gumbymom So on assist.org I basically follow the same requirements as a CC student? Also, does GE=major prereqs? if not do I have to finish both to transfer or just GE?
Do I basically follow this? http://www.psych.ucr.edu/undergrad/BA%20PSYC.pdf
thanks!
You need to finish all courses that show required on the assist.org: GE’s and major prep for UCI. I would consult with a transfer advisor at UCR whom should be familiar with UC to UC transfers. You might want follow the UCR 4 year plan required for UCR’s degree to make sure you on track and cross reference these courses with assist.org along with following the GE courses in the link you posted.

@Gumbymom late reply, sorry! But how do I use assist.org? It seems like it’s more for CC students. The class names don’t really match up to UCR’s
It is more about content then course name. I would use it as a guideline to see which major courses are needed to transfer to UCI since each UC campus may have slightly different major prep/major requirements. If you get the UC reciprocity for the GE’s, then the major requirements need to be articulated between UCR and UCI or check directly with UCI.
just to make sure I’m reading this correctly. I need to finish GEs, get UC reciprocity. Finish major reqs for UCI rather than UCR’s
Yes to all the above since your target school is UCI. I would imagine there should be a lot of major prep course overlap between UCR and UCI if you are pursuing the same major. Look at the UCI course catalog for course descriptions and compare to UCR. Are their no academic advisors at UCR whom can help?
Yeah there are, I just wanted to ask the more obvious questions since they don’t seem to friendly
